Bright Sight planning guide
What happens after you book your wedding photographer and videographer?
A plain guide to what happens once you have booked, from your receipt and the planning call about a month before, to the wedding day and the order your sneak peeks, photographs and films arrive.

Your journey at a glance
Once you have booked, the next stages follow a simple order. This guide walks through each one, from your receipt to your finished films, so you always know what comes next.
In short: you pay your deposit and receive a receipt, we stay in touch by email or Instagram, we have a planning call about a month before, your balance is due, we photograph and film your day, and then your work arrives in order: sneak peeks first, then your photographs, highlight film and documentary, roughly a month apart.
Right after you book
Your £120 non-refundable deposit holds your date exclusively, so the day is yours alone. We send a receipt after each payment, and the balance is due a month before the wedding.
If you booked the photo and video team, it is one agreement, one deposit, one planning call and one timeline, so everything stays in one place.
From now on you are welcome to email us or message us on Instagram whenever you like. We are happy to chat as much as you would like, before the day and after it.
In the months before the wedding
This is a good time to settle the details that shape your day.
Your start time. Coverage begins at a time you choose, and we usually suggest about two and a half hours before the ceremony so the morning is included. You always have the final say. For example, 10.5 hours of coverage with a 10:30am start finishes at 9pm.
Your morning. If you booked the team and are getting ready in two places, we move together between both, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
Your group photographs. Write a short list. We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which takes around 20 minutes depending on your guests. Our guide to how long group photographs take explains how to keep it relaxed.
Anything special. If you are thinking about a first look, a reading or a surprise, tell us. Our guide to whether to have a first look may help you decide. On request we can also send sample galleries or films from your venue.
Our planning checklist covers the practical details in one place.

About a month before: the planning call and the balance
Around a month before the wedding, or whenever you have had your final venue meeting, we have a call to go over the firm details. Have your timeline to hand if you can.
We talk through your venue layout and any officiant rules, how to cover the morning, where family photographs will happen, and anything special such as a first look, a reading or a surprise.
Your balance is due one month before the wedding, and you receive a receipt after you pay. We also check sunset, light and tide times in advance from the desk.
On the wedding day
Your coverage starts at the time you chose and runs continuously, and we never leave before your booked hours are done. Standard coverage is 10.5 hours, Luxury is 11.5 hours and Platinum is 13 hours.
If you booked the team, two of us work together, each capturing a different medium and often sharing angles. We agree where each of us will stand so your guests are not blocked.
If you booked the team, your portrait walk takes about 15 minutes, with photographs and video captured together, and there is an optional second walk when the evening light suits, which fits inside your booked hours at no extra cost. We give gentle direction only when it helps, so there are no stiff poses.
On the morning of the wedding we look around the venue, indoor spaces included, and work closely with the venue and coordinator. If it rains, we agree an indoor or sheltered option with you and the venue on the day, and our guide to what if it rains on your wedding day has more.
We always deeply appreciate being fed. If you cannot feed us for any reason, please do not worry: tell us ahead of time and we head to a local cafe while you eat. Our guide to feeding your photographer and videographer explains more.
If the drive is over two hours, we stay in a hotel the night before so traffic cannot affect us. We also bring backup cameras and kit, and use two memory cards.
After the wedding: what arrives and when
After the wedding we keep two separate backups on hard drives. Everything is edited in-house, to one shared look. A complete photo gallery takes around two full working days and each video cut takes around four working days.
Your sneak peeks come first. With our photography and photo and video packages they typically arrive around 24 hours after the wedding: 15 with Standard, 30 with Luxury and 50 with Platinum.
Next come your photographs, usually 600 to 800+, then your highlight film of 7 to 10 minutes, then your documentary film of typically 40+ minutes. There is roughly a month between each piece, and in peak summer the timings can vary. If you booked videography only, you receive the films but not the photographs or sneak peeks.
Your photographs arrive in a private online gallery and your films with online viewing, both with digital downloads. The links come by email, so please check your spam folder first, and then contact us if you cannot find them. Your online gallery is guaranteed for two years and is typically left up beyond that until we need the space, so please always back up your images.
You have full rights to your photographs, so you are free to print, share and use them with no need to get in touch first. Our guide to printing and sharing your photos has ideas. Albums are designed in-house from 60 photographs that you choose, you approve the layout, and they start from £399.
We may share selected photographs and clips in our portfolio and on social media. If you would prefer your wedding to stay private, just tell us and that is absolutely fine.
