SUSSEX WEDDING GUIDE & REAL WEDDINGS
Wedding Photographer and Videographer Near Sussex
A flint barn on the South Downs, a ceremony beneath a chandelier in Rye and a seafront veil on the Hampshire coast. Natural photographs and wedding films, with every venue labelled by its real county.

In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. This guide follows seven real weddings in and around Sussex: Farbridge near Chichester in West Sussex, a day around Rye and Udimore in East Sussex, and neighbouring venues at Haslemere in Surrey, Liphook and Portsmouth in Hampshire, each labelled with its real county. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.
Weddings between the South Downs and the sea
Sussex runs from the Hampshire border to Kent, with the South Downs behind and the English Channel in front. For a wedding that can mean a flint barn on the downs, a town ceremony in Rye or a hotel with a lake on the Surrey border, with guests travelling from London, Brighton, Portsmouth and further afield.
Cam and Beth work as a photo and video duo, quietly in the background of your day. We want the grandmother in conversation at her table, the friends who cannot stop laughing and the minutes between formal photographs to be in your gallery as much as the portraits are. We keep you with your guests, step in only when a little direction helps and let the photographs and film grow from what actually happens.
A word on the map. Farbridge at West Dean near Chichester is in West Sussex, and Alexandra and Row's day around Rye and Udimore is in East Sussex. voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa is at Haslemere in Surrey, Old Thorns is at Liphook in Hampshire and the Square Tower is in Old Portsmouth, also in Hampshire. They are here because couples searching for Sussex often look across the county line, and each story says which county it is in. Our Surrey guide, Hampshire guide and Southampton guide show more of the weddings on either side.
01 / West Dean, near Chichester, West Sussex / Laura & Ricky
Farbridge: a flint barn, two grandmothers and golden hour in the long grass
Laura and Ricky married at Farbridge, a group of converted barns at West Dean near Chichester, on 26 July 2025. Their photographs begin inside the flint and brick barn, laid with round tables and white chairs beneath oak trusses, and then the room fills with people: Laura and Ricky arrive smiling among their friends and family, and a bridesmaid leans down to talk to two grandmothers at their table.

Out of the barn the day softens. In the evening light Ricky lifts Laura in front of a stone farmhouse, they walk hand in hand across a field with the hills rolling away behind them, and a kiss on the cheek on the gravel drive makes Laura laugh. None of these portraits needed a long walk; the farm gave us all of it within a few minutes of the party.
Farbridge sits in the South Downs, so the setting rewards a day built around the light. If you are drawn to a barn like this, ask the venue which spaces your booking includes, where guests go between the ceremony and the meal and what the plan is if it rains. Keep portraits close to the barns and leave a little time free for the evening, when late summer light on grass and flint can do more for a photograph than any long route.

02 / West Dean, near Chichester, West Sussex / Hannah & Adam
Farbridge again: confetti in the barn, a bench by the meadow and a walk through the fields
Hannah and Adam’s July 2024 wedding at Farbridge shows the same barns in a different mood. They walk through confetti inside the timber barn, sit close on a wooden bench outdoors with their foreheads touching and kiss beside a winding river channel across a meadow, with the countryside stretching away behind them.

Their first dance beneath the barn beams, with Adam lifting Hannah as she laughs, is the photograph at the top of this guide, and later the two of them walk hand in hand along a country path. Two weddings a year apart at the same venue make a useful comparison if you are weighing up a summer barn day: the setting is the same, and the day still belongs completely to the people in it.

03 / Rye and Udimore, East Sussex / Alexandra & Row
Rye and Udimore: a walk through town, a chandelier ceremony and evening light by the church
Alexandra and Row married on 16 July 2022, and their day moves between the old town of Rye and the village of Udimore, a few miles inland. The photographs begin with the dress hanging in a tall bay window, then follow Alexandra through a Rye street, lifting her skirt as her father, her bridesmaids and her family walk beside her.

The ceremony is in a panelled room with a chandelier and boards of names along the walls, where Alexandra and Row stand hand in hand with their guests close beside them. Afterwards guests line a Rye street to throw confetti, and Alexandra laughs as the couple walk through it. The celebration continues at St Mary’s Hall in Udimore, and in the evening the two of them find a quiet path between tall hedges beside an old stone church.
A wedding that begins in a town centre and finishes in the countryside asks you to plan the move between the two: the distance, who is driving and how long guests will need to arrive and settle. Share both addresses and your ceremony time and we can plan the morning around them. Check with the venue and the people hosting your ceremony where confetti is allowed before you promise it to guests.

04 / Haslemere, Surrey, on the Sussex border / Georgie & Alastair and Ana & Dan
voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa: autumn leaves, a lakeside kiss and a summer on the lawns
voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa is at Haslemere in Surrey, close to the Sussex border, so it sits at the edge of this guide and is labelled with its real county. Georgie and Alastair’s October 2022 wedding is an autumn story: they walk arm in arm across fallen leaves with their pale dog on a lead, kiss beside the lake and its fountain among turning trees and walk through confetti with the dog outside a tile-roofed building.

Ana and Dan’s May 2026 wedding shows the same grounds in a different season. They laugh together beneath oak trees on a gravel path, a guest gives a speech in front of a colourful floral arch and golden hour on the lawns brings a quieter walk. The venue describes a historic house dating back to 1475 within 22 acres, with a lake and a fountain.
Two seasons at one hotel is useful if you are weighing up a date. Autumn gives colour and an early dusk, late spring gives long evenings, and the questions are the same either way: when the ceremony and the meal fall against the light, and where guests shelter if it rains.

05 / Liphook, East Hampshire, near the Sussex border / Stuart & Laura
Old Thorns: a hotel wedding where the day stays connected
Stuart and Laura married at Old Thorns in Liphook on 18 June 2022. Liphook is in East Hampshire, close to the Sussex and Surrey borders, so the hotel is a neighbour to this guide and is labelled with its real county. Their photographs move from the exchange of rings to the walk past their guests after the ceremony, then to guests chatting around a table and a black and white portrait beside a garden hedge.

A hotel wedding can keep the day connected: ceremony, meal and evening can share one site, with gardens close by for portraits. Ask to see the exact room you would use with a layout close to your guest numbers, because a room can feel very different once the aisle, tables and dance floor are in place.

For current venue details, explore Old Thorns.
06 / Old Portsmouth, Hampshire / Claire & James
The Square Tower: a Portsmouth seafront wedding along the coast from West Sussex
Claire and James married at the Square Tower in Old Portsmouth on 15 August 2025. Portsmouth is in Hampshire, along the coast from West Sussex, so this is a labelled neighbour rather than a Sussex venue. Their photographs begin on the seafront, with Claire leaning against James with her eyes closed, and then the wind lifts her veil as they look at each other with the rocks and the sea behind them.

Away from the water they cross a wooden bridge beneath a stone archway and walk hand in hand across the grass towards a black and white striped lighthouse. Inside the stone walls James bends to kiss an older relative on the cheek, and outside guests line the way as Claire and James walk through confetti. The reception room in their photographs has chandeliers, tall arched windows and white blossom trees along the tables.
A seafront portrait is a pause, not a project: keep the route short, wear shoes you can walk in and expect some wind. If your ceremony and reception are in different places, include the move in the plan, because guests leaving, travelling and settling in takes real time.

Planning a Sussex wedding: barns, coast and the journey in
Barns and farms on the downs
A barn on the South Downs gives you big skies and big views, and it can also be exposed. Ask the venue where guests can shelter between the ceremony and the meal, and choose a wet-weather plan you would still enjoy using. In summer the evening light on grass and flint is worth planning for, so leave a little room after the meal for a short walk. Laura and Ricky's portraits at Farbridge all happened within a few minutes of the party.
Town ceremonies and the coast
A ceremony in a town centre, as in Rye, or on a seafront, as at the Square Tower, brings its own questions. Check where confetti is allowed, how guests will park or arrive and how long they need between the ceremony and the next location. Near the sea the breeze can lift a veil beautifully and also catch flowers, hair and chairs, so choose a short portrait route, shoes you can walk in and a sheltered spot for family groups.
Getting guests there
Many guests will travel from London and the Home Counties, and Gatwick Airport is in West Sussex for anyone flying in. Share a short transport note and accommodation suggestions early. A wedding with a town ceremony and a countryside reception, like Alexandra and Row's, needs the move between the two to be planned as carefully as the ceremony itself.
How we travel to you
Sussex is more than two hours from our base near Cardiff, so we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it. That means traffic on the morning cannot affect your day, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages.
Before you enquire: write down every address your day will use: where you get ready, the ceremony, the meal and where people sleep. In Sussex that is often a drive of several miles between a town and a barn. Send the list with your date and venue and we can talk through the order of the day.
Beyond Sussex, the Surrey guide covers the weddings to the north, the Hampshire guide and Southampton guide follow the coast west, and the Kent guide continues east.
Hearing the day again: wedding films near Sussex
A photograph keeps a face. A film keeps the voice that went with it: a vow, the pause before a speech lands, the sound of a barn full of people when the dancing starts. A highlight follows your day in the order it happened, so watching it feels like the day again, not a trailer for it.
Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. Watch Alexandra and Row's highlight from Rye and Udimore and Hannah and Adam's highlight from Farbridge below. Explore the wedding videography package for current inclusions, or browse our wedding films for more celebrations.

Booking photography and film with the same team means one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for your venue and one plan for the portrait walk. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together since 2016, so a barn that turns from ceremony to dinner, a move between a town and the countryside or a late change to the order of the day is familiar territory.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages, so a downland barn and a seafront tower are priced alike. If your day uses more than one location or has unusual timings, tell us the plan and we will confirm how it fits.
Questions about photography and film in Sussex
Do you photograph and film weddings in Sussex?
Yes. Cam and Beth are based near Cardiff and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. We have photographed and filmed weddings at Farbridge near Chichester in West Sussex and around Rye and Udimore in East Sussex, and this guide also shows neighbouring venues in Surrey and Hampshire. Send your date and venue and we will tell you whether we are free.
Which real weddings can we see in this guide?
Laura and Ricky and Hannah and Adam at Farbridge, near Chichester, are in West Sussex, and Alexandra and Row around Rye and Udimore are in East Sussex. Georgie and Alastair and Ana and Dan at voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa are at Haslemere in Surrey, Stuart and Laura at Old Thorns are at Liphook in Hampshire and Claire and James at the Square Tower are in Old Portsmouth, also in Hampshire. Each story is labelled with its real county.
Why are Surrey and Hampshire venues in a Sussex guide?
A search for Sussex often reaches across the county line, and the countryside does not stop at a boundary. Only Farbridge and the Rye and Udimore wedding are in Sussex itself. Lythe Hill is in Surrey, Old Thorns and the Square Tower are in Hampshire, and each is labelled that way so you can judge the distance from your own venue.
Do you travel to Sussex for weddings?
Yes. Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages. When a wedding is more than two hours from home, we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it, so the journey cannot affect the day.
Can you cover a town ceremony and a countryside reception?
Often, yes, subject to the locations and the coverage you book. Send us the addresses and the ceremony time so we can look at the journey between them and plan the morning around it. Alexandra and Row's wedding moved between Rye and Udimore, a few miles inland, and the same planning applies to any day with two locations.
What should we plan for at a barn or coastal wedding in Sussex?
Barns on the downs can be exposed, so choose a wet-weather plan that you would still be happy to use, and ask the venue where guests can shelter between the ceremony and the meal. Near the coast a breeze can lift a veil beautifully and also blow over flowers and chairs, so choose a short portrait route and shoes you can walk in. Evening light is a gift in summer, so leave a little time free after the meal.
How much does a Sussex wedding photographer and videographer cost?
Our standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography and £3,799 for photography and videography together. Travel across England and Wales is included, so a barn near Chichester and a town ceremony in Rye are priced in the same way. Longer packages add more coverage and extras, and the package pages show the current inclusions.
Can we book photography and videography together?
Yes. Our photo and video team package puts both under one booking with a £120 deposit, and it carries a £400 saving compared with booking them separately. Full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. See the package pages for current coverage and prices.
