Weddings under the Malvern Hills, in two counties

The Malvern Hills run along the border between Worcestershire and Herefordshire, and a wedding photographer near them is working in both counties at once. A couple here might choose a moated manor on the Worcestershire side, a castle at the foot of the hills in Herefordshire or a barn tucked into farmland towards Bromyard, and a guest list often straddles the line.

We have photographed and filmed five weddings in this area, from 2022 to 2026, and each story below names the county it is really in. A bride on a willow swing beside a former abbey, a couple walking across a wet terrace to a barn in the rain, a firework over a castle and a stripe of light through the slats of a barn door are among them, because the best photographs of a day are often the ones nobody planned.

We work quietly around the day. You stay with your guests, we step in only when a little direction helps, and the photographs and film grow out of what really happens. Our Worcestershire and Herefordshire guides cover the wider counties, and this guide stays with the hills.

01 / Birtsmorton, near Malvern, Worcestershire / Jade & Brad

Birtsmorton Court: hot pink bridesmaids, a rose arch and a rose garden with a statue

Birtsmorton Court is at Birtsmorton, near Malvern, and the venue describes a family-owned, exclusive-use moated manor house with secret gardens, lakes and views of the Malvern Hills. Jade and Brad married here on 6 June 2025. The first photograph is the two of them beneath a white rose arch, Brad in a black dinner jacket kissing Jade’s cheek, a coral bouquet in the corner.

A bride in a white gown with a large bow stands in a bright room while four bridesmaids in hot pink dresses adjust her train
A bride and groom walk along a lawn aisle between rows of white chairs, with a tall clipped hedge ahead of them and guests either side

The morning is bright with colour: five women in pink striped robes laugh together on a white bed, and later four bridesmaids in hot pink dresses adjust Jade’s train in a bright room. On the lawn the two walk along an aisle between rows of white chairs towards a tall clipped hedge and back again with their arms raised as guests clap.

The best of the garden comes later. In the rose garden the two smile at each other with drinks in their hands, a statue in the greenery behind, and on the lawn beside the water they kiss in the middle of a row of bridesmaids in pink and groomsmen in black. A house with this many gardens gives a wedding a lot of places to stand, so ask which are open to you and where the light is best in the evening.

02 / Eastnor, near Ledbury, Herefordshire / Kristina & James

Eastnor Castle: sunglasses on the lawn, a pointed window and a firework over the battlements

Eastnor Castle is at Eastnor, near Ledbury in Herefordshire, and the venue describes a castle at the foot of the Malvern Hills in a parkland estate with a deer park, available for exclusive hire. Kristina and James married here on 29 July 2022. The first photograph is the two of them in black and white on the lawn, he in a three-piece suit and sunglasses and she in sunglasses and a veil, holding hands.

A couple walk along a gravel path beside a castle wall with arched windows and a round crenellated tower, with roses beside the path

In front of a tall pointed castle window and grey stone columns, Kristina holds a white bouquet and kisses James, who is in a navy check suit, and the two walk along a gravel path beside the castle wall and its round crenellated tower, with roses beside the path. They stand in front of a tall dark yew hedge with the battlements above it.

The day ends at night, with James raising an arm as he kisses Kristina in a sparkling dress while a large firework bursts in the sky above them. A castle gives you plenty of places to stand, so ask which parts of the estate you will have on the day and where guests wait while you walk.

03 / Callow End, near Worcester, Worcestershire / Abi & Adam

Stanbrook Abbey: a pointed hall, a willow swing and pampas grass beside a pond

Stanbrook Abbey is a Grade II listed former abbey at Callow End, near Worcester, run as a hotel by Hand Picked Hotels, and the venue says Benedictine nuns lived here from 1838 to 2009. Abi and Adam married here on 22 September 2022. The first photograph is Abi walking down the aisle of a tall hall with a pointed arched ceiling, carved wooden panelling and stained glass.

A laughing bride in a veil holding a bouquet of pampas grass and a groom in a navy suit walk hand in hand beside a sandy pond in a garden
A bride in a white gown with a long veil holding a bouquet of white flowers and a groom in a dark suit kiss in a gap in an old red-brick wall, with a brick building and autumn-coloured trees behind them

In the grounds, a laughing Abi in a veil holds a bouquet of pampas grass as Adam, in a navy suit, walks hand in hand beside a sandy pond in the garden, and the two kiss in a gap in an old red-brick wall. They sit together on a wooden swing hung from a huge weeping willow, the branches falling around them, and Adam kisses Abi’s forehead.

A swing is easy to plan for if you ask the venue first: how many people it holds, where it is and who can help with a long dress. A weeping willow gives a day a natural frame.

04 / Shrawley, Worcestershire / Amy & Matthew

Curradine Barns: a chandelier over the dance floor, stripes of light and a wet terrace

Curradine Barns is on Church Lane in Shrawley, and the venue describes a restored 19th-century red-brick barn that was once a working farm, with a farmhouse for guests. Amy and Matthew married here on 21 April 2023, and the portrait at the top of this guide is Matthew kissing Amy’s cheek, backlit by low golden sun with a dark timber barn behind them.

Seen from behind, a bride in a lace gown with a trailing skirt and a groom in a green check suit hold hands and walk across a wet paved terrace towards glass doors with a chalkboard sign
A place setting on a white-clothed table with a Table Four card for Amy and Matthew, wildflowers, eucalyptus, dried grasses and glasses, with large lit bulb letters glowing behind

On the paved yard, the two walk hand in hand, seen from behind, Amy in a lace gown with an open back and Matthew in a green check suit, and later they cross a wet paved terrace together in the rain. Inside the barn, bright light through the vertical slats of the doors throws stripes across the floor around their silhouettes.

In the evening, guests dance on a dark floor under a large black iron chandelier in a red-lit brick barn with timber roof trusses, and a place setting at Table Four is laid with wildflowers, eucalyptus and dried grasses. A barn like this is good in rain and sun alike, so ask the venue how the room will look in the evening, and where guests can go outside for air.

05 / Bredenbury, near Bromyard, Herefordshire / Chloe & Jack

Bredenbury Court Barns: a ring in a bright hall and a confetti aisle

Bredenbury Court Barns is at Bredenbury, near Bromyard in Herefordshire, and Chloe and Jack married here on 25 August 2026. Their ceremony is in a bright hall with skylights, and the first photograph is the exchange of rings, Jack in a black dinner suit sliding the ring onto Chloe’s finger as a groomsman looks on and a bouquet of coral and peach flowers sits in the foreground.

At the register the two smile at each other, Chloe in a veil and Jack signing the book, the same bouquet beside them, and afterwards they walk hand in hand up the aisle between guests throwing petals, with white-draped chairs on both sides.

Outside, the portraits are on a dry lawn under a beech branch, with a brick house and stone-framed windows behind: a tiny couple in the distance in the first, and in the others Jack kisses Chloe’s temple with her long lace train spread on the grass. A hot August day suits a long shaded lawn, so ask the venue where shade falls in the late afternoon and plan portraits for then.

Planning a wedding around the Malvern Hills

Moated manors, castles and abbeys

Birtsmorton Court, Eastnor Castle and Stanbrook Abbey are all historic buildings with plenty of rooms and grounds, and each gave its couple a different kind of day. Ask which rooms and gardens are included in your booking, how guests move between the ceremony and the meal and what the plan is if the weather turns.

Barns and glazed halls

Curradine Barns is a red-brick barn on a former farm and the barn near Bromyard has a bright hall with skylights for the ceremony. Ask how the room changes between the ceremony, the meal and the dancing, and how long the changeover takes, so you know where guests wait.

Rain, wind and the hills

Amy and Matthew walked across a wet terrace to the barn at Curradine and the day was lovely. The hills can turn the weather quickly, so agree an indoor alternative with your venue and keep a few umbrellas for guests, so a change of plan feels calm.

Swings, ponds and gardens

A weeping willow with a swing at Stanbrook, a sandy pond with pampas grass and a rose garden with a statue at Birtsmorton gave their couples somewhere to be quiet for a few minutes. Ask the venue which gardens are open to you and where guests can wait while you walk.

Fireworks at the end of the day

Eastnor ended with a firework over the castle. If you would like something similar, ask the venue what it allows and who is responsible, and tell us the time so we can be in the right place.

How we travel to you

Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages, and we will agree the plan for the night before with you so that traffic on the morning cannot affect your day.

Before you enquire: write down every address your day will use, from where you get ready to where guests sleep, and any ceremony spaces you are still choosing between. Send it with your date and venue and we can talk through the order of the day.

For the wider counties, see our Worcestershire and Herefordshire guides, and for the neighbouring areas the Gloucestershire, Shropshire and Redditch guides.

Hearing the day again: wedding films under the Malvern Hills

A photograph keeps a face. A film keeps the voice that goes with it: vows in a bright hall, a laugh in the garden, the sound of confetti on a long aisle. We film the way we photograph, from the edge of your day and without asking you to repeat anything for the camera.

A highlight follows your day in the order it happened, so watching it feels like the day again rather than a trailer for it.

Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. Explore the wedding videography package for current inclusions, or browse our wedding films for more celebrations.

One team for the photographs and the film around the hills

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Booking photography and film with the same team means one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for your venue and one plan for the couple portraits. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together since 2016, so a barn that turns from ceremony to dinner and a garden at golden hour are familiar ground.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages, so a castle near Ledbury and a barn near Bromyard are priced the same way. If your day uses more than one location or has an unusual timetable, tell us the plan and we will confirm how it fits.

How is this different from your Worcestershire and Herefordshire guides?

Those guides cover the whole of each county. This guide is about the area around the Malvern Hills, where the two counties meet, with a closer look at a moated manor, a castle, a former abbey and two barns.

Do you travel to Worcestershire and Herefordshire for weddings?

Yes. Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages.

Can you photograph a wedding where the ceremony and the meal are in different buildings?

Yes. Tell us every address and roughly how long guests will take to move between them, and we will plan the photographs and film around your actual order of the day.

What if it rains?

Agree an indoor alternative with your venue before the day. Amy and Matthew’s barn wedding at Curradine included a walk across a wet terrace and the photographs are some of the best in this guide.

How much does a Malvern Hills wedding photographer and videographer cost?

Our standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography and £3,799 for photography and videography together. Larger packages extend the coverage and add extras, and the package pages show what is included today.

Can we book photography and videography as one team?

Yes. Our photo and video team package puts both under one booking with a £120 deposit, and it carries a £400 saving compared with booking them separately. Check the package page for current prices and coverage.
