In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. This guide follows six real weddings in and around Hertfordshire: two at Micklefield Hall in Sarratt and Phil and Natasha at Ashridge House near Berkhamsted, with a film from Fanhams Hall near Ware, and labelled neighbours at Down Hall and That Amazing Place on the Essex side and Notley Abbey in Buckinghamshire. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.

Weddings across Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire is the commuter belt north of London, and a wedding here often means guests travelling in from London, Essex, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire, with a country house, a barn and a garden within a few miles of one another. The venues in this guide share a love of grounds that you can use for portraits without leaving the party.

Cam and Beth work as a photo and video duo, quietly in the background of your day. We want the confetti on the way out, the bridesmaids lined up in front of the pavilion and the minutes between formal photographs to be in your gallery as much as the portraits are. We keep you with your guests, step in only when a little direction helps and let the photographs and film grow from what actually happens.

A word on the map. Micklefield Hall is at Sarratt, near Rickmansworth, Ashridge House is near Berkhamsted and Fanhams Hall is near Ware, all in Hertfordshire. Down Hall and That Amazing Place are just across the border in Essex and Notley Abbey is in Buckinghamshire, so they are labelled as neighbours. Our Micklefield Hall page and Ashridge House page go into those venues in more detail, our Buckinghamshire guide, Essex guide and London guide show more weddings on each side.

01 / Sarratt, near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire / Charlotte & Matt and Becky & Tae

Micklefield Hall: a pond and pavilion, an ivy-covered house and a saxophone in the barn

Micklefield Hall is at Sarratt, near Rickmansworth, and it is the heart of this guide. Charlotte and Matt married here on 5 August 2022, and the photograph at the top of this guide is the two of them walking hand in hand through confetti beneath an oak tree. Guests sit in rows on both sides of the ceremony pond with a pillared pavilion at the far end, and the two stand small in front of the ivy-covered red-brick house. Charlotte's bridesmaids in emerald green line up in front of the pavilion, and the two kiss in golden light in front of a field.

Becky and Tae married at Micklefield Hall on 11 June 2022. Becky gets ready in a bright room with a sloping ceiling, and later Tae and his groomsmen carry her in her dress beside the pavilion while everyone laughs. Guests gather around the pond and pavilion, reflected in the still water, and in the timbered barn a guest plays a saxophone in black and white as the party gets going. A pond and pavilion make ceremony and photographs easy to plan close together, so ask the venue which spaces your booking includes and how guests move between them.

02 / Ashridge, near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire / Phil & Natasha

Ashridge House: a heart-shaped arch, a Gothic hall and fireworks on the lawn

Ashridge House is at Ashridge, near Berkhamsted, in the west of Hertfordshire. The venue describes a Grade I listed house that was once a royal residence, with about 700 years of history and acres of gardens. Phil and Natasha married here on 21 June 2024. Their photographs begin in a vaulted white stone cloister, where a wedding dress hangs from an arched wooden door at the end, and on the grand staircase dressed with white blossom trees, garlands and lanterns. The ceremony takes place at the foot of the staircase, beneath a heart-shaped arch of white flowers, and afterwards the two come through a carved marble doorway beneath a chandelier with their arms raised. In the red-walled library Natasha bends to greet a dog.

At the top table the two laugh through a speech beside tall windows, and from across the grand hall they appear small in silhouette on the Gothic balcony. In the formal gardens they touch foreheads with the house behind them, and the day ends with a kiss on the lawn as fireworks burst overhead. The venue says fireworks are allowed until 22:00 at Ashridge House, so ask about the rules for your date.

Our dedicated Ashridge House page goes into the venue in more detail.

Down Hall is at Hatfield Heath, on the Essex side of the border with Hertfordshire, so it is a labelled neighbour to this guide. Later the two embrace with flowers around them and share their first dance.

A grand house gives you staircases, tall windows and chandeliers close together, so ask which rooms are included and where the light is best at the time of your ceremony.

04 / Old Harlow, Essex, near the Hertfordshire border / Shanice & Russel

A garden venue can give you several quick backdrops without a long walk away from your guests, so ask which parts of the grounds are open to you.

Planning a wedding in Hertfordshire

Houses, barns and gardens

The venues here are a house with a pond and pavilion, a Gothic house with a grand staircase and a timbered barn. Ask each venue which spaces your booking includes, how the ceremony and reception connect and where guests can shelter. A pond, an ivy-covered house and a barn each make a good backdrop, but they ask for a plan for the order of the day.

Summer light and evening parties

The Micklefield weddings in this guide were in June and August, when the evening light is long and golden. Keep a few minutes after the meal for portraits in that light, and agree where guests can wait indoors if the weather turns.

Getting guests there

Hertfordshire is close to London, and Rickmansworth has Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways trains. Share a short transport note and accommodation suggestions early, and ask whether your venue has rooms on site, because some of the venues in this guide can put guests up.

Portraits close to the party

Several of the portraits in this guide were taken within a few minutes of the reception: the pond and pavilion, a field beyond the garden and the front of the ivy-covered house. Ask your venue where the best light is at the time you are likely to be outside, and we will build a short walk into the timeline.

How we travel to you

We are based near Cardiff and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. If your wedding is a long drive from home, we stay in a hotel the night before so that traffic on the morning cannot affect your day.

Before you enquire: write down every address your day will use: where you get ready, the ceremony, the meal and where people sleep. Send the list with your date and venue and we can talk through the order of the day.

Beyond Hertfordshire, the Buckinghamshire guide, Essex guide and London guide show more weddings around Hertfordshire.

Hearing the day again: wedding films in Hertfordshire

A photograph keeps a face. A film keeps the voice that went with it: a vow, the pause before a speech lands, the sound of a barn full of people when the dancing starts. A highlight follows your day in the order it happened, so watching it feels like the day again, not a trailer for it.

Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. Watch Jess and Glynn’s highlight from Fanhams Hall and Charlotte and Matt’s highlight from Micklefield Hall below. Explore the wedding videography package for current inclusions, or browse our wedding films for more celebrations.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Booking photography and film with the same team means one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for your venue and one plan for the portrait walk. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together since 2016, so a house that turns from ceremony to dinner, a barn at dusk or a late change to the order of the day is familiar territory.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. If your day uses more than one location or has unusual timings, tell us the plan and we will confirm how it fits.

Questions about photography and film in Hertfordshire

Do you photograph and film weddings in Hertfordshire?

Yes. Cam and Beth are based near Cardiff and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. We have photographed and filmed weddings at Micklefield Hall in Sarratt and Ashridge House near Berkhamsted, and filmed at Fanhams Hall near Ware. Send your date and venue and we will tell you whether we are free.

Which real weddings can we see in this guide?

Charlotte and Matt and Becky and Tae at Micklefield Hall in Sarratt, and Phil and Natasha at Ashridge House near Berkhamsted, are in Hertfordshire. Leonard and Stephanie at Down Hall in Hatfield Heath and Shanice and Russel at That Amazing Place in Old Harlow are in Essex, and Charlie and Peter at Notley Abbey are in Buckinghamshire, all labelled as neighbours. Jess and Glynn at Fanhams Hall near Ware appear on film only. Each story says where the venue is.

Why are Essex and Buckinghamshire venues in a Hertfordshire guide?

Hertfordshire sits between London, Essex and Buckinghamshire, and couples searching here often compare venues on all three sides. Down Hall, That Amazing Place and Notley Abbey are each labelled with their real county so you can judge the distance from your own venue.

Can you photograph a wedding at a venue with a pond and a barn?

Yes, and Micklefield Hall has both, along with a pavilion and an ivy-covered house. A ceremony beside a pond, a dinner in a timbered barn and portraits among the gardens each ask different questions: how guests move between spaces, where they shelter and what happens after dark. Send your venue details and we will plan the day around them.

Do you travel to Hertfordshire for weddings?

Yes. Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages. When a wedding is a long drive from home, we stay in a hotel the night before so the journey cannot affect your day.

How much does a Hertfordshire wedding photographer and videographer cost?

Our standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography and £3,799 for photography and videography together. Longer packages add more coverage and extras, and the package pages show the current inclusions.

Can we book photography and videography together?

Yes. Our photo and video team package puts both under one booking with a £120 deposit, and it carries a £400 saving compared with booking them separately. Full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. See the package pages for current coverage and prices.
