Wedding photography and videography in Reading, with time for the people you love

We are Cam and Beth, the photo and video duo behind Bright Sight. We cover Reading and the surrounding Berkshire countryside, with travel across England and Wales included in our standard full-day packages. Our photographs and wedding films are calm, natural and documentary: a way to remember the people, the atmosphere and the moments you could never have planned.

A Reading wedding search can begin with a riverside hotel at Sonning and quickly become a shortlist of barns, country houses and places where your guests can stay together. The setting matters, but the way you want to spend the day matters too. Would you love a long drinks reception with friends? A short walk together after the ceremony? A room full of people listening to the speeches? Those are useful starting points for choosing both a venue and your coverage.

Danielle and Alex’s wedding at Wasing Park near Aldermaston leads this guide. There is another Berkshire story at Beaumont Estate in Old Windsor, plus wider comparisons at Botleys Mansion in Surrey and Bury Court near Farnham. Two different Bury Court weddings show how a venue becomes personal once your own people arrive. The selected highlights below add Wasing on film and Lydia and Alex’s wedding at Elcot Park near Newbury.

01 / Near Aldermaston, West Berkshire / Danielle & Alex

Wasing Park: a countryside wedding near Reading

Wasing Park is near Aldermaston, west of Reading, with a barn wedding setting and several ceremony options. It is a natural place to compare if you want a countryside celebration while keeping your search in Berkshire. On a viewing, ask how your chosen spaces connect, where guests will gather between the ceremony and dinner, and which overnight arrangements suit your plans.

The opening photograph shows Danielle with friends during preparations. We love that a wedding story can start with the people around you, before anyone is sitting down for the ceremony. Alex appears with friends too, and a separate photograph brings us into a quiet moment with Danielle’s dress. Those details help the gallery remember the anticipation as well as the celebration.

The arrival you will each remember differently

Danielle’s arrival is photographed from Alex’s side of the ceremony. You might remember the walk towards your partner, while they remember waiting and seeing you appear. A complete gallery makes room for those different perspectives, without asking you to repeat a moment that only happens once.

Before your wedding, we talk through any venue or celebrant restrictions and the moments that matter to you. On the day, we work quietly around what is happening. The people in the room deserve your attention; ours is on remembering their expressions and the little things happening around you.

A little time together in the grounds

The photographs move from a kiss beneath the trees to a walk together and a portrait framed by brickwork. You can enjoy the setting without spending the afternoon touring every possible photograph spot. A short route around the places you love usually feels more natural than a long list to work through.

We often allow 15 to 20 minutes for couple portraits, with another short outing left as an option later. You can chat, hold hands and take a breath together. We give gentle guidance where it helps, so you do not need to arrive knowing how to pose or turn your wedding into a photoshoot.

When viewing Wasing: Ask to see the indoor alternative as well as the outdoor ceremony setting, and talk through how guests move between the ceremony, drinks and reception. A past wedding gallery gives you inspiration; the current venue team should confirm what your own booking includes.

For current booking details, floorplans and event guidelines, visit Wasing Park's official website.

02 / Old Windsor, Berkshire / Shannon & Liam

Beaumont Estate: an eastern Berkshire comparison for a winter wedding

Shannon and Liam’s December wedding at Beaumont Estate offers a different Berkshire setting. It is in Old Windsor, rather than Reading, so think about the journey and where your guests will stay alongside the room you fall in love with. Their photographs give us preparations, a richly decorated ceremony interior and a confetti welcome outside.

An indoor plan that feels like part of the celebration

The ceremony photograph is a reminder to look carefully at the indoor spaces on a venue visit. Imagine the room with your guests in it, where you will stand and how everyone will see the ceremony. A setting you love indoors gives you much more freedom when the weather is uncertain.

For a winter wedding, start with the ceremony time and the daylight available afterwards. We can keep outdoor family photographs comfortable, make room for a short portrait outing and leave plenty of time inside with everyone. There is no need to make the day depend on a particular sunset.

The preparation and confetti photographs have very different moods, but they belong to the same story. That variety is what makes a wedding gallery feel personal. Our Berkshire wedding guide offers more county-wide inspiration if your search is moving beyond Reading.

03 / Chertsey, Surrey / Chai & Ross

Botleys Mansion: a wider Surrey country house wedding idea

If your shortlist reaches east into Surrey, Chai and Ross’s wedding at Botleys Mansion gives you a country house comparison. The venue is in Chertsey, with a mansion and grounds, and it belongs in the wider surrounding-area part of this guide. It is not a Reading venue, even when it appears in the same search.

Making an entrance, then being yourselves

The staircase photograph gives us Chai’s arrival from a guest’s perspective. It is followed by the ceremony beside the large windows and a portrait outside with Ross. The architecture is part of each photograph, but the people remain the reason to return to it.

When comparing a grand house with a barn, imagine the whole day in each. Where will you get ready? Where do guests gather afterwards? Which rooms will be yours? Ask how the indoor and outdoor plans connect, rather than choosing entirely from one favourite photograph.

A few minutes outside can give your photographs a different pace from the ceremony without taking you away for a long session. If you are travelling between locations, include the time to arrive and settle in, rather than putting portraits straight after the driving time on a schedule.

For current booking details, floorplans and event guidelines, visit Botleys Mansion's official website.

04 / Bentley, Hampshire, near the Surrey border / Tom & Sarah

Bury Court: two different weddings at a countryside barn

The Barn at Bury Court is in Bentley, Hampshire, close to Farnham and the Surrey border. Its postal address often appears under Farnham, Surrey. For a Reading shortlist, it is a wider southern comparison, with the actual journey and guest accommodation considered separately from a venue close to town.

Tom and Sarah: preparations, a ceremony and a garden walk

Sarah’s preparation photograph holds a moment of help with the dress. Later, the couple share a kiss beneath the outdoor ceremony shelter. Both are part of the day, but one is a quiet moment with someone close and the other belongs with the guests gathered around them.

There is space for a walk in the grounds too. A wider photograph can let the trees and setting surround you, rather than asking you to stand in one spot for a succession of poses. We can keep it relaxed and bring you back while the celebration is still in full swing.

Compare the ceremony options as well as the gardens

If you would love an outdoor ceremony, look at the indoor plan on the same visit. Ask who makes the weather decision and when, and where guests will wait while the arrangements are made. Feeling happy about both possibilities lets you enjoy the morning without constantly checking the sky.

Bury Court’s current website also describes accommodation beside the barn. Check which rooms are included in your booking and who will be staying, especially if your guests are travelling from Reading or further away. The return journey matters just as much as getting everyone there.

Andy and Jess: the same venue, a different story

Andy and Jess’s separate Bury Court wedding shows another ceremony and a moment at the reception table during the speeches. The setting is familiar, but the people, expressions and atmosphere belong to their own day. This is why seeing more than one wedding at a venue can be useful: it helps you imagine your celebration without feeling that you need to copy somebody else’s.

Wedding venues near Reading and wider places to compare

Start close to Reading with Ufton Court, Wokefield Estate and The Great House at Sonning, alongside Wasing near Aldermaston. Elcot Park is shown through Lydia and Alex’s film, while Beaumont, Botleys and Bury Court give you photographed comparisons further afield. Our real wedding stories appear above; the other local suggestions are places to explore with their venue teams.

  • Wasing Park (Near Aldermaston, West Berkshire): Our main photographed wedding near Reading. Compare the barn, ceremony options and the plan for guests staying overnight.
  • Ufton Court (Ufton Nervet, near Reading): A local barn and historic house option. Ask how the ceremony and reception spaces work in different weather.
  • De Vere Wokefield Estate (Mortimer, near Reading): A researched local hotel and estate comparison. Check which building and wedding spaces your booking includes, rather than treating the whole estate as one room.
  • The Great House (Sonning, near Reading): A researched riverside hotel option. Ask about the ceremony, indoor reception and current use of the outside spaces.
  • The Retreat at Elcot Park (Near Newbury, West Berkshire): Lydia and Alex’s wedding film brings this country house hotel into the guide.
  • De Vere Beaumont Estate (Old Windsor, Berkshire): Our photographed eastern Berkshire comparison, with Shannon and Liam’s winter celebration. Consider travel from Reading separately from the venue timetable.
  • Botleys Mansion (Chertsey, Surrey): Our photographed Surrey comparison, with Chai and Ross’s ceremony and portraits. It is a wider surrounding-area option rather than a Reading venue.
  • The Barn at Bury Court (Bentley, near Farnham, on the Hampshire and Surrey border): Two separate real wedding stories offer a countryside barn comparison. The venue is in Bentley, Hampshire, and uses a Farnham postal address.

Planning your Reading wedding: town, countryside and time with your guests

A ceremony in Reading followed by a countryside reception needs a different plan from a day spent entirely at Wasing or a hotel. Share every preparation, ceremony and reception address early. Driving time is only part of the journey: leave room for everyone to get into cars, park and find the entrance before the next part of the wedding begins.

If guests are arriving at Reading station

Give them a clear onward plan to the venue and think about the return journey at the end of the night. A countryside wedding may need pre-booked transport or a shared pickup point. For a riverside venue at Sonning, ask the team about the actual arrival and parking arrangements rather than relying on a general map pin.

For an autumn or winter date

Start with the ceremony time and the daylight that follows. A short family photograph list helps keep outdoor time comfortable, leaving space for portraits before dinner. Window light, a beautiful indoor room and the people around you can tell the story just as well as a long outing in the grounds.

Build a wet-weather plan you like

On your venue visit, ask where drinks, family photographs and a short portrait would happen indoors. Choose an option you would enjoy using, so rain does not make the day feel like a compromise. We can take a few minutes outside if a dry spell arrives, and keep the rest of your coverage moving naturally with the celebration.

Leave breathing room: A relaxed 15 to 20 minute portrait walk usually fits more easily than a long session. Keep a little flexibility around journeys and the wedding breakfast, and tell us which people and moments you most want time with.

One photo and video team for your Reading wedding

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo
Cam and Beth, the people behind Bright Sight.

We have photographed and filmed more than 400 weddings since 2016. Working together gives you one conversation about your plans, a shared timeline and a consistent feel across your photographs and film. During portraits, we capture both together, so one short walk becomes part of each.

Photographs let you stay with an expression or a hug. Film brings back the voices, the words in a speech and the sound of everyone cheering. Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film, giving you both the feeling of the celebration and more time with its words.

You can book photography, videography or our combined team package. The combined option includes a £300 saving compared with booking photo and video separately, with a £120 deposit to secure your date. See the photo and video team package for current coverage and prices, or compare highlight and documentary films while choosing what you would like to watch again.

Lydia and Alex: a wedding film at The Retreat at Elcot Park

The Retreat at Elcot Park is near Newbury in West Berkshire, a western comparison for a Reading venue search. We filmed Lydia and Alex’s wedding there as videographers, so their highlight brings a different wedding into this guide through film. The country house hotel offers wedding spaces and bedrooms on site. Ask the venue about today’s room arrangements and how your guests can stay together, then enjoy the people and atmosphere of Lydia and Alex’s celebration.

Your Reading wedding photography and film questions

Do you offer wedding photography and videography in Reading?

Yes. Cam and Beth cover Reading and the surrounding Berkshire area, including weddings near Aldermaston, Ufton Nervet, Mortimer and Sonning. We are based near Cardiff, with travel across England and Wales included in our standard full-day packages. Send your date, venue and preferred coverage so we can check availability.

Which weddings near Reading are shown in this guide?

Danielle and Alex at Wasing Park near Aldermaston are the main local example. Shannon and Liam at Beaumont Estate in Old Windsor are a separate Berkshire wedding, and Lydia and Alex’s Elcot Park highlight adds West Berkshire through film. Chai and Ross at Botleys Mansion and Tom and Sarah plus Andy and Jess at Bury Court are clearly labelled wider surrounding-area comparisons.

Have you photographed or filmed a wedding at every venue listed?

No. Wasing Park, Beaumont Estate, Botleys Mansion and Bury Court are photographed archive examples; Elcot Park is represented by Lydia and Alex’s wedding film. Ufton Court, Wokefield Estate and The Great House at Sonning are researched local venue suggestions. Each entry explains which it is.

Is travel to Reading included?

Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages. Tell us every preparation, ceremony and reception address when enquiring, especially if different parts of your wedding take place in Reading and the countryside.

How long should we allow for couple portraits?

Usually a relaxed 15 to 20 minute walk is enough, with an optional short outing later if the light and your plans allow. You do not need to know how to pose. We offer gentle guidance and leave room for you to talk, laugh and enjoy a few minutes together.

Can we book photography and videography together?

Yes. Our combined package gives you Cam and Beth working together, one shared plan and a consistent feel across your photographs and film. It includes a £300 saving compared with booking photo and video separately. Photography-only and video-only packages are also available.

What if our Berkshire wedding is in winter or it rains?

We agree indoor or sheltered options with you and the venue team. In winter, the ceremony time and daylight available afterwards help shape the portrait plan. We can keep outdoor time short, use the rooms you love and take a few minutes outside if the weather allows.

How do we book our Reading wedding date?

Send your date, venue and the photo, video or combined coverage you would like through the package enquiry form. Once availability is confirmed and you are ready to book, a £120 deposit secures the date. The remaining balance is due one month before the wedding.
