LOCAL WEDDING GUIDE & REAL WEDDINGS
Wedding Photographer and Videographer Near the Lake District
A jetty on Windermere, a barn below the fells, a lakeside inn on Ullswater and a manor house in the Eden Valley. Natural photographs and wedding films from across Cumbria, with every venue labelled by its real place.

In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. We photograph and film weddings in the Lake District and across Cumbria, and travel across England and Wales is included. This guide shows two weddings at Broadoaks beside Windermere, a Windermere country house, Fairbank Barn near Kendal and The River Barn in Lancashire in photographs, plus The Wild Boar, Inn On The Lake at Ullswater and Holesfoot in the Eden Valley on film, each labelled with its real place. Standard full-day packages start at £1,999 for photography, £1,999 for videography or £3,699 for both, with a £120 deposit to secure your date.
Lake District wedding photography and videography, from Windermere to the Eden Valley
A Lake District wedding is shaped by water and weather. You might marry beside Windermere with a jetty at the end of the garden, in a restored barn below the fells near Kendal, at a hotel on the shore of Ullswater or in a manor house in the quieter Eden Valley. The scenery is the reason couples choose the area, and the light that goes with it is the reason we love working there.
Cam and Beth work as a photo and video duo, quietly in the background of your day. We want the bridesmaids in matching robes, the groom laughing with his friends and the long walk along a jetty at the end of the evening to be in your gallery and film, with no stiff posing and no long separation from your guests.
How we cover the Lakes. We are based near Cardiff, so the Lake District is a long journey for us. Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages, so you are not charged extra for the distance. In return we ask for your date, ceremony time and addresses early, so we can plan the journey and make sure your morning preparations are covered. Our Liverpool guide, Manchester guide and Leeds guide look at the country to the south and east.
We have kept the labelling honest. Every venue here is in Cumbria except The River Barn, which is in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, and is shown as a nearby comparison.
01 / Bridge Lane, Windermere / Olivia & Tyler
Broadoaks Country House: green satin robes, a conservatory kiss and a swing in the garden
Olivia and Tyler married at Broadoaks Country House in Windermere in April 2023. The aerial view that opens their story shows how the house sits among trees with the hills rising behind, and the morning begins with bridesmaids in green satin robes raising glasses on a bed in the bridal suite.

Broadoaks describes seven acres of landscaped gardens with views across to Windermere, outdoor ceremonies on a wedding green under a licensed gazebo and 20 boutique bedrooms, so a wedding can stay under one roof from the first coffee to the last song. Olivia and Tyler’s photographs show how much room that gives a day: a kiss beneath a ceiling of white flowers in the conservatory, groomsmen laughing with their hands over their mouths and the whole wedding party lined up in front of the stone house.
The quietest pictures come from the gardens. A groom kisses his bride’s cheek among the trees, and the two of them sit together on a wooden swing. Both happen in the gaps between the formal moments, which is where we like to work. The venue lists the restaurant for sit-down wedding breakfasts for up to 100 guests and the Orangery for evening parties of up to 150, so confirm the current arrangements for your own numbers.

For current venue details, explore Broadoaks Country House.
02 / Bridge Lane, Windermere / Matt & Taylor
Broadoaks in August: make-up chairs, mint pyjamas and a jetty at golden hour
Matt and Taylor married at Broadoaks in August 2025, two years after Olivia and Tyler, and their photographs begin in a getting-ready room: a make-up artist at work on the bride in a white robe and bridesmaids in mint green pyjamas on a window seat. The morning is relaxed, and that shows.

The evening belongs to the water. A kiss in warm light among long grass, a bride leading her groom by the hand along a wooden jetty and then the two of them small against the shoreline with wooded hills across the lake are the photographs that explain why couples choose Windermere. The picture at the top of this guide was taken on the same jetty at sunset.
If the lake matters to you, tell us early so we can plan the day around the light. In August the evenings stay long enough for a short walk after the meal, and a walk like this is easy to fit in when the venue has its own gardens and shore.

03 / Windermere / Brett & Mikaella
A Windermere country house: the aisle, a lamplit drive and a long table under glass
Brett and Mikaella married at a country house in Windermere in August 2022. Three photographs carry their story here: a bride in a lace gown walking down an aisle in a conservatory hung with white flowers, the two of them arm in arm along a lamplit drive and a long table laid beneath a glass roof.

A glass-roofed room changes through the day, so ask where the light will fall during your ceremony and your meal, and what the room looks like once the sun has gone. Walking a drive together after the ceremony is a simple way to take a few quiet minutes before the party begins.

04 / Staveley, near Kendal / Emma & Ryan
Fairbank Barn: pampas grass, confetti and a field with the fells behind
Emma and Ryan married at Fairbank Barn in Staveley in July 2024. They kiss at the end of the aisle beneath a pampas grass arch, walk back hand in hand through a shower of confetti and then step outside for the picture everyone remembers: a bride lifting her bouquet and a groom with his arms in the air in a field with the hills behind them.

Fairbank Barn describes a restored barn at the end of a private country lane, within farmland near Staveley and with views towards the Lakeland fells, with Kendal and Windermere each about ten minutes away. It is hired for two nights or more and holds up to 150 guests, which suits couples who want a whole weekend with their people. A barn needs a plan for weather and daylight, so share your timetable with us early and we will leave room for the outdoor moments.

For current venue details, explore Fairbank Barn.
05 / Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire / Hannah & Tom
The River Barn: a light-filled ceremony and a walk beneath the trees
Hannah and Tom married at The River Barn in Poulton-le-Fylde in August 2023. It is in Lancashire, south of the Lakes and a short drive down the M6, and it belongs here as a comparison for couples who like the idea of a Lakeland barn but want a venue nearer the coast and the motorway.

Three photographs tell their story: the two of them facing each other during a ceremony in a light-filled barn, holding hands beside pampas grass and flowers and raising their arms as they walk along a tree-lined path. Ask the venue about current ceremony arrangements, overnight stays and guest transport before you decide whether it suits your plans.

06 / Crook, near Windermere / Emma & Josh
The Wild Boar: a mirror, a woodland hotel and a film from the autumn
Emma and Josh married at The Wild Boar near Windermere in October 2021, and we filmed their day. This story is a film story, not a photo story: their highlight, further down this page, starts with the groom smiling at himself in a mirror.
The Wild Boar describes a hotel hidden in private woodland just off the B2584 between Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere, with 32 individually styled rooms, a Grill and Smokehouse and its own home-brewed beer and single malt whiskies. A woodland hotel in October means early dusk and changeable weather, so a plan for indoor portraits and a sensible start time for the ceremony are worth settling with the venue. Contact them directly for ceremony spaces and capacities.
For current venue details, explore The Wild Boar.
07 / Glenridding, Ullswater / Shelley & Harry
Inn On The Lake: a hand mirror, a gazebo and the shore of Ullswater
Shelley and Harry married at Inn On The Lake in Glenridding in May 2025, and their highlight film opens on the bride laughing with a hand mirror in front of the lake. Like the Wild Boar story above, it is a film story: you can see the place as it moved on the day rather than through our photographs.
Inn On The Lake sits on the shore of Ullswater, with three jetties and a private lakeshore, a garden gazebo licensed for civil ceremonies overlooking the water and the Glenridding Suite for indoor ceremonies. It lists 100 guests for dining and 150 for receptions, and 44 bedrooms, so many guests can stay on site. Ullswater is further north than Windermere and a little quieter, which suits couples who want a lake setting without the busier shore.
For current venue details, explore Inn On The Lake.
08 / Maulds Meaburn, Eden Valley / Lauren & Callum
Holesfoot: a terrace toast, a walled garden and a barn in the Eden Valley
Lauren and Callum married at Holesfoot in Maulds Meaburn, in the Eden Valley near Appleby, in May 2025. We filmed their day, and their highlight shows the bride toasting with her bridesmaids on the terrace.
Holesfoot describes a manor house sleeping up to 22 guests, about 20 acres of gardens, woods and brooks, an Italian Garden Terrace and a walled garden for outdoor ceremonies, and an Old Barn main hall for up to 150 guests. Couples get exclusive use on the day, and the site can sleep 60 guests in total across the house, cottages, a coach house and glamping tents. The Eden Valley is further east than the lakes themselves, so it suits couples who want fells and countryside without the busier tourist roads.

Planning photography and film around your Lake District wedding
Getting your guests there
Trains reach Windermere from Oxenholme, and Penrith is the nearest station for Ullswater, but most venues here need a car or a pre-booked taxi for the last few miles. Broadoaks gives M6 junction 36 as its nearest, and Holesfoot gives junction 38. Think about how older relatives and anyone with young children will travel, and plan a sensible gap for arrivals so nobody is rushing past the photographs you care about.
Staying on site
Several venues in this guide have bedrooms for guests: Broadoaks has 20, The Wild Boar 32, Inn On The Lake 44 and Holesfoot 25, and Fairbank Barn is hired for two nights or more. When your guests are staying where the wedding is, the morning becomes easier to photograph and film and the evening can run on without anyone watching the clock for a taxi.
Water, weather and light
Lakeland weather changes quickly. Ask your venue where guests can shelter, which indoor space you would use for portraits and how the paths and jetties are lit after dark. On a clear summer evening the light on the water is the best of the day, so we would rather leave 15 to 20 minutes after the meal than rush the portraits earlier.
Autumn and spring dusk
The Wild Boar’s October wedding and Broadoaks’ April wedding are good reminders that daylight is short outside summer. Share your ceremony time and sunset with us early so the portrait walk happens while there is still light.
Before you enquire: note your date, the ceremony venue and where you will get ready, even if that is a family home. If you are choosing between a lakeside hotel, a barn and a manor house, tell us your shortlist and we can talk through how each tends to work for photographs and film.

One photo and video duo for a wedding that spans lake and fell

Hiring photography and film from one team means one conversation about your timetable instead of two. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together since 2016, so on the day they already know who takes the ceremony from the aisle and who watches the reactions. If your wedding moves from a lakeside ceremony to a barn or a garden, nobody has to stop and repeat a moment for a second camera.
Our combined photo and video team package has a £120 deposit and a £300 saving compared with booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, with travel across England and Wales included in our standard full-day packages. For multiple locations or custom timings, tell us your plans so we can confirm the arrangements with you.
A Lake District wedding videographer for the parts you want to hear again
A photograph holds the look on someone’s face. A film keeps the sound around it: a voice catching on a vow, the pause before a speech and the room joining in when the dancing starts. We film so the highlight follows your day in order, rather than reading as a montage of scenery.
Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film, including the complete ceremony and speeches. Everything is recorded twice as it happens and backed up again that night. Watch Emma and Josh’s highlight from The Wild Boar, Shelley and Harry’s highlight from Inn On The Lake and Lauren and Callum’s highlight from Holesfoot below.

Do you photograph and film weddings in the Lake District and Cumbria?
Yes. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed weddings around Windermere, Kendal, Ullswater and the Eden Valley. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages, so a Lakes wedding is priced the same way as one near home. Send your date and venue to check availability.
Which real weddings can we see in this guide?
Olivia and Tyler and Matt and Taylor at Broadoaks, Brett and Mikaella at a Windermere country house, Emma and Ryan at Fairbank Barn in Staveley, and Hannah and Tom at The River Barn in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, are shown in photographs. Emma and Josh at The Wild Boar, Shelley and Harry at Inn On The Lake in Glenridding and Lauren and Callum at Holesfoot in the Eden Valley are shown through their highlight films. Each venue is labelled with its real place.
The Lake District is a long way from Cardiff. How does that work?
It is a long journey north, which is why we want your date, ceremony time and addresses early. Travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages, so there is no separate travel charge for a Lakes wedding. Once we know your timetable we can plan how we arrive and make sure the morning preparations are covered.
Do we need to pose for a long time?
No. We usually take a relaxed 15 to 20 minute portrait walk near your celebration, with gentle guidance when it helps. Most of the day is captured as it unfolds so you can enjoy your guests.
Our guests are travelling in from all over the country. How should we plan the day?
Most Lake District venues need a car or a pre-booked taxi for the last few miles. Trains reach Windermere from Oxenholme and Penrith station is the nearest for Ullswater, so tell us where your guests are staying and how long they will need to reach the venue. Venues with their own bedrooms, such as Broadoaks, Inn On The Lake and Holesfoot, make the day easier for many guests.
How much does a Lake District wedding photographer and videographer cost?
Our standard full-day packages start at £1,999 for photography, £1,999 for videography and £3,699 for photography and videography together. Travel across England and Wales is included, so a venue by Windermere or Ullswater is priced the same way as a wedding near Cardiff. Longer packages add more coverage and extras, and the package pages show the current inclusions.
Can we book photography and videography together?
Yes. Our photo and video team package brings Cam and Beth together with one shared timetable, a £120 deposit and a £300 saving compared with booking separately. Full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. See the package pages for current coverage and prices.
