What You Are Looking For in a Wedding Photographer and Videographer Near Cardiff
Cardiff is our home, and photographing weddings here is something we hold exceptionally close to our hearts. From the hilltop views of Thornhill overlooking Cardiff city centre and the Bristol Channel, to the tranquil lakeside cabins of Canada Lodge and the medieval stone elegance of Pencoed House Estate, Cardiff and its surrounding countryside provide some of the most versatile and romantic wedding backdrops in the UK.
When planning a wedding in Cardiff, couples consistently tell us the same thing: they want heartfelt, editorial photography and cinematic films, but they do not want to spend hours pulled away from their guests. They want to celebrate, raise a glass with their family and friends, and soak in every genuine moment of the celebration.
That calm, unhurried mindset is the core of our approach. As a husband and wife duo with over 400 weddings behind us, we take all the stress out of being photographed. If you feel camera shy, you are in great company: almost every single couple featured in our galleries felt the exact same way before their wedding day (and honestly, so would we!). We keep couple portraits to a relaxed 15 to 20 minute stroll during your drinks reception, giving you space to breathe, laugh, and be yourself. For the rest of the day, we blend into the background, capturing all the joyful, unscripted moments: the happy tears during the vows, the roaring laughter during speeches, and the high-energy dancefloor chaos.

Cardiff Wedding Venues That Feel Like Home to Us
Over the last decade, we have photographed and filmed weddings across every corner of Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, and surrounding valleys. Here is our in-depth wedding guide to the standout venues we know and love:

New House Country Hotel, Thornhill, Cardiff
Perched high on Thornhill with sweeping panoramic vistas across the entire city of Cardiff and the Severn Estuary beyond, New House Country Hotel is a classic Welsh country house venue. Its elevated position gives couples an extraordinary setting for outdoor ceremonies under the garden gazebo, sunny terrace drinks receptions, and sunset portraits as the city lights begin to glow in the evening.
The venue offers both intimate oak-panelled country house rooms and the grand, draped Marquee suite for larger evening receptions. From a photography and filmmaking perspective, the changing natural light across the hillside and the sheltered garden lawns provide endless creative opportunities throughout every season.

Canada Lodge and Lake, Creigiau, Cardiff
Set just on the outskirts of Cardiff in Creigiau, Canada Lodge and Lake feels like a hidden alpine retreat. Built from natural stone and solid timber logs, it overlooks a picturesque five-acre trout lake framed by lush woodland.
Ceremonies take place inside the dedicated lakeside Oak Room, which features floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the water. For couple portraits, a short walk around the lake edge, across the rustic wooden jetty, and into the surrounding trees produces effortless, nature-filled photographs and romantic film sequences.

Pencoed House Estate, Capel Llanilltern, Cardiff
Steeped in Welsh history dating back to the 15th century, Pencoed House Estate in Capel Llanilltern is one of Cardiff's most prestigious private wedding venues. The centrepiece is the Old Hall, featuring majestic stone walls, original arched timber beams, and a grand open fireplace that creates an intimate, candlelit ceremony atmosphere.
The grounds span 36 acres of peaceful Welsh countryside, including a long tree-lined driveway, manicured lawns for garden games during the drinks reception, and a permanent glass-fronted marquee for dining and evening dancing.

Llanerch Vineyard, Hensol, Cardiff Border
Llanerch Vineyard is the oldest and largest working vineyard in Wales, situated in the rolling countryside of Hensol on the edge of Cardiff. Offering a refined taste of the Mediterranean in South Wales, Llanerch combines the elegant Calon Lân suite for ceremonies with the Woodland Marquee for dining and dancing, all overlooking the vineyard fields.
Strolling through the rows of grapevines during golden hour provides a wonderfully romantic, sun-drenched aesthetic that looks breathtaking on film and in print.

Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch, Cardiff & Bridgend Border
Hidden on a wooded hillside in Coychurch near the Cardiff border, Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel (meaning “Whispering Woods”) is a historic Victorian country mansion. Surrounded by ancient woodlands and manicured garden lawns, it combines high Victorian ceilings, glowing crystal chandeliers, and charming wood-panelled lounges.
The secluded estate offers wonderful privacy, with canopy-filtered sunlight filtering through the trees during afternoon drinks, creating a soft, flattering natural light for couple portraits and guest candid shots.
Bryngarw House, Brynmenyn, Cardiff & Bridgend Area
Set within 113 acres of award-winning country parkland, Bryngarw House is a picturesque French-style country house venue. It features elegant ceremony suites, sweeping lawns, a traditional conservatory, and a permanent marquee dressed with fairy lights and chandeliers.
With ornamental bridges, tranquil river walks, and extensive woodlands just steps from the house, couples have endless scenic photo spots without ever having to travel far from their party.

Why Couples Book a Wedding Photographer and Videographer Team Together

Booking a united, husband and wife photo and video duo completely changes how your wedding day feels. When independent suppliers meet for the first time on your wedding morning, they naturally have to coordinate angles and share time, which can unintentionally double the length of your couple portrait session or lead to them stepping into each other's camera shots. Because Cam and Beth have filmed and photographed over 400 weddings together, we operate in complete harmony without ever having to say a word.
Beyond the calm atmosphere on the day, our combined Photo and Video Team package ensures a matching, cohesive colour grade across your entire photo gallery and cinematic film. You also benefit from simplified planning with one £120 deposit, clear communication, and an instant £300 package saving compared to booking photo and film separately.
A Wedding Videographer Near Cardiff, Not Just an Add-On
Cinematic wedding film captures the subtle emotion that still photos simply cannot: the sound of your voices during your vows, the laughter and cheers during speeches, and the incredible atmosphere as the evening dancefloor comes alive.
We approach filmmaking with the exact same dedication and fine-art craft as our photography. Alongside your 4 to 6 minute cinematic highlight film, we deliver full documentary films of your complete ceremony and speeches as standard. Every key memory is recorded to dual memory card slots simultaneously and duplicate-backed safely overnight, giving you absolute peace of mind.
Have Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
We feel quite camera shy: how do you make couple photos feel natural?
Almost every couple we capture tells us they feel nervous in front of the camera (and honestly, so would we!). Our whole philosophy is built around removing that pressure completely. We never force stiff poses, fake smiles, or rigid positioning. Instead, we take you on a relaxed 15 to 20 minute walk around your venue grounds during the drinks reception, chatting and laughing while capturing natural, genuine connection.
Are you based locally in Cardiff, and do you travel throughout South Wales?
Yes! We live right here in Cardiff and know the city, its surrounding hills, the Vale of Glamorgan, and South Wales inside out. Full local and UK travel is always included in our transparent package pricing with no extra mileage costs.
How do you work discreetly during Cardiff ceremony venues and church services?
Having filmed and photographed more than 400 weddings together, we move in complete harmony. We use compact, silent camera setups that allow us to document your vows, emotional reactions, and guest laughter without intrusive lighting, bulky gear, or blocking your guests' view.
How much time will couple portraits take out of our wedding day?
We believe you should spend at least 95% of your day celebrating with a drink in hand alongside your family and friends. Our main portrait walk takes only 15 to 20 minutes during the afternoon reception, followed by an optional 10-minute golden hour walk before your evening party starts.
What is included in the combined Photo and Video Team package?
Our combined package includes full-day coverage from morning preparations through to your evening dancefloor party, 600+ high-resolution edited images in an online gallery with full personal print rights, a 4 to 6 minute cinematic highlight film, complete documentary films of your ceremony and speeches, drone aerial cinematography (weather and airspace permitting), and sneak peek photos delivered shortly after your wedding.
