CANTERBURY & KENT COAST WEDDING GUIDE & REAL WEDDINGS
Wedding Photographer and Videographer Near Canterbury and the Kent Coast
A brick mansion near Canterbury, a gazebo and a barn near Dover, a castle lawn near Hythe and a private estate a few minutes from the sea. Natural photographs and wedding films from the Kent coast side of the county, with every venue labelled by where it really is.

In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. This guide follows five real weddings on the Kent coast side of the county: Broome Park near Canterbury, two weddings at Hayne House near Hythe, a gazebo wedding at The Old Kent Barn near Dover and a castle wedding at Westenhanger near Hythe. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.
Weddings between Canterbury and the Kent coast
Kent is a big county and its coast side feels like a different place from the commuter towns around Maidstone and Sevenoaks. Here the choices are a Grade I listed mansion in parkland near Canterbury, a private estate a few minutes from the sea at Hythe, a barn in the farmland between Folkestone and Canterbury and a medieval castle with a lawn and a ruin. A couple searching for Canterbury is usually deciding between those four kinds of day.
We have photographed and filmed all four. A bouncy castle at Broome Park, two grooms in lilac with fireworks at Westenhanger, a groom carrying his bride piggyback along a lamplit drive at Hayne House and a game of table football beside a dark timber barn at Swingfield are all in the stories below, because the best photographs of a day are often the ones that nobody planned.
We work quietly around the day. You stay with your guests, we step in only when a little direction helps, and the photographs and film grow out of what really happens. Our Kent guide shows the other side of the county, around Maidstone and Sevenoaks, and our Sussex and Essex guides cover the neighbours on each side.
01 / Near Canterbury, Kent / Victoria & Benson
Broome Park Hotel: a brick mansion, yew trees and a bouncy castle in a wedding dress
Broome Park Hotel is on Canterbury Road, near Canterbury, and describes itself as a Grade I listed Mansion House completed around 1638, set in formal gardens and open parkland. Victoria and Benson married here on 8 June 2023, and their first portraits are on the lawn in front of the red-brick house, kissing as the wedding party looks on.

The day has a lot of fun in it. In the morning the bridal party laugh on a gold sofa in white robes and towel turbans, most of them in sunglasses, and in the afternoon Victoria jumps on a white bouncy castle in her full gown while the bridesmaids in pale blue and children gather around her. In between there are quieter photographs on a flight of stone steps between yew trees, where the two kiss under pink blossom, and a walk along a path between tall clipped hedges.
If you like the idea of a day that mixes formal gardens with something unexpected, a hotel on an estate like this gives you the space. Ask what is allowed on the lawns, and where an inflatable or a game could sit without being in the way of the ceremony or the meal.

02 / Saltwood, near Hythe, Kent / Alice & Ricky and Charlotte & Oli
Hayne House: a glass-roofed ceremony, a dog at the gazebo and a piggyback home along a lamplit drive
Hayne House is at Saltwood, near Hythe, a few minutes from the Kent coast, and the venue describes it as a private estate with landscaped gardens, offered for the whole venue. We have photographed two weddings here: Alice and Ricky in September 2022, and Charlotte and Oli in June 2025. The portrait at the top of this guide is Charlotte and Oli, kissing on a garden path beneath a weeping willow hung with festoon lights.

Alice and Ricky hold hands and smile at each other beneath a glass roof while their guests look on, and later they stand beside stone steps in the garden and kiss among tall pampas grass. Charlotte and Oli’s day starts with Oli kneeling in a wooden bay window to talk to a small boy in a matching suit, moves on to the couple crouching to greet a small dog beside the white gazebo and then to a shower of confetti from their guests.
The evening is the best part: the two are in the lamplit drive with Oli carrying Charlotte piggyback, and later on the dance floor they kiss in a dramatic dip. A wedding like this works because the estate is private, so the day can run from the gazebo to the dance floor without anyone leaving. Ask which ceremony space suits your numbers, and what the plan is if the weather turns.

03 / Westenhanger, near Hythe, Kent / Tyler & Daniel
The Castle Westenhanger: an ivy archway, a wooden ship and fireworks over two grooms
The Castle Westenhanger is on Stone Street at Westenhanger, near Hythe, and the venue offers exclusive use of its lawn, ruins, banqueting hall and manor house. Tyler and Daniel married here on 18 April 2022, and their first photograph in this guide is the two of them close together in an ivy-covered old brick and flint archway.

Outside a red-brick building with a white pillared doorway, they hold hands and laugh as confetti falls around them, each with a bouquet. They walk across the lawn in front of the old flint and brick walls and the stone turret, and kiss in front of a weathered wooden ship resting on dry land with its masts and rigging rising behind them.
The evening comes with its own light: a kiss in silhouette with low golden sunlight between their faces, a laugh as they cut a two-tier cake beneath a draped ceiling of fairy lights and a last photograph from behind of the two of them with their arms around each other, looking up at fireworks. A castle gives a day a lot of places to be, so ask which spaces are yours for the whole day and where guests wait while you walk.

04 / Swingfield, near Dover, Kent / Hannah & Adam
The Old Kent Barn: a flowered gazebo, a game of table football and wildflowers at the end of the day
The Old Kent Barn is on Smersole Farm at Swingfield, in the countryside between Folkestone and Canterbury, and the venue describes a garden gazebo for ceremonies and an oak-framed New Barn. Hannah and Adam married here on 28 August 2026, and the first photograph is the end of their ceremony, as the two walk out of the white gazebo between lines of guests throwing white petals.

In black and white, they hold hands inside the gazebo as the officiant holds a book beside them, and Hannah laughs. Earlier, Hannah stands in a room under exposed oak roof beams beside a pink sofa, in a gown with a long cape, and later the two play table football on a paved yard beside a dark timber bar and sit together on a low wooden bench with a clipped hedge behind them.
The day finishes among tall grasses and wildflowers on a gravel path, in black and white again. If you are choosing a barn, ask for the wet-weather plan for the ceremony and where the petals can go, and keep a few minutes at the end of the day to walk somewhere quiet.

Planning a wedding near Canterbury and the Kent coast
Choosing between indoor and outdoor ceremonies
Several venues here offer more than one ceremony space, from a garden gazebo to a glass-roofed room and a mansion house. Ask when the venue needs your choice and what the wet-weather plan is, because the photographs and the film will be planned around it.
Parkland, lawns and the long walk
Broome Park, Hayne House and Westenhanger all have enough space for the couple to walk away from the party for a few minutes, which suits our approach. Check how far guests will be from drinks while you are out, and where they can wait if the weather is poor.
Confetti, bubbles and fireworks
The petals at Old Kent Barn and the confetti at Hayne House and Westenhanger made some of the best photographs here, and Westenhanger ended with fireworks. Ask each venue what it allows, so you know which kind to buy and who is responsible for the clear-up.
Spring, summer and the evening
Our five weddings fall in April, June, September and August, so the light changes a lot between them. Tell us the sunset time on your date and we will talk through where couple portraits fit around the meal and the evening party.
Getting there and staying
Canterbury, the coast and the countryside between are connected by roads that can be busy in summer. Share directions and parking plans with guests early, and ask your venue whether guests can stay on site, because the estates here have rooms for some or all of your party.
How we travel to you
Kent is more than two hours from our base near Cardiff, so we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it. That means traffic on the morning cannot affect your day, and travel across England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages.
Before you enquire: write down every address your day will use, from where you get ready to where guests sleep, and any ceremony options you are still choosing between. Send it with your date and venue and we can talk through the order of the day.
Our Kent guide covers the Maidstone and Sevenoaks side of the county, and the Sussex and Essex guides cover the neighbouring counties.
Hearing the day again: wedding films on the Kent coast
A photograph keeps a face. A film keeps the voice that goes with it: a vow beneath a gazebo, the laugh at the top table, the sound of guests throwing confetti across a lawn. We film the way we photograph, from the edge of your day and without asking you to repeat anything for the camera.
A highlight follows your day in the order it happened, so watching it feels like the day again rather than a trailer for it.
Our full-day video packages include a 7 to 10 minute highlight and a 40+ minute documentary film. Explore the wedding videography package for current inclusions, or browse our wedding films for more celebrations.
One team for the photographs and the film from Canterbury to the coast

Booking photography and film with the same team means one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for your venue and one plan for the couple portraits. Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together since 2016, so a mansion with a lawn, a barn with a gazebo and a castle with a ruin are familiar ground.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages, so a venue near Canterbury and one near Dover are priced the same way. If your day uses more than one location or has an unusual timetable, tell us the plan and we will confirm how it fits.
