LOCAL WEDDING GUIDE & REAL WEDDINGS
Wedding Photographer and Videographer Near Leicester
City celebrations, woodland vows and characterful barns. Relaxed photography and heartfelt film across Leicester, Leicestershire and the neighbouring countryside.

Your wedding day, with room to enjoy it
Looking for a wedding photographer and videographer near Leicester usually starts with a venue shortlist. A city celebration, a country house near Loughborough or a woodland wedding towards Market Harborough can all feel completely different. What connects them is the way you want to remember the day: your favourite people, the atmosphere and the moments you could never have planned.
We are Cam and Beth, the photo & video duo behind Bright Sight. Since 2016, we have captured more than 400 weddings together. Our approach gives you space to enjoy yours. We follow the hugs, the happy nerves and the laughter, with a short portrait stroll when you want a little time together.
This guide brings together our real weddings in Leicester and around Leicestershire, followed by two clearly labelled Northamptonshire comparisons. The photographs are our own work, and the practical advice is here to help you picture how the day could feel.
01 / Southern county border / Amee & Sean, Emma & Tom
Hothorpe: woodland celebrations with everyone close by
For couples drawn to greenery and a quieter setting, Hothorpe sits on the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire border. Its current Woodlands offering combines an outdoor ceremony setting with indoor celebration spaces and accommodation among the trees. You can choose a countryside feel without making the day a series of journeys between separate venues.

Amee & Sean: from quiet preparations to woodland vows
Amee and Sean's August wedding shows both sides of that atmosphere. Their photographs move from a quiet moment beside a window to guests gathered beneath the trees. The ceremony feels part of the landscape, with friends and family close enough to share every reaction.
Those smaller moments matter as much as the wide view. We leave room for the people helping you get ready, the last reassuring hug and the breath you take before walking towards your partner.

A short walk, then back to your guests
The paths and timber surroundings give a portrait stroll a natural destination. You do not need a complicated routine: walk together, have a chat and pause somewhere you like. We look for a little space and flattering light, keeping the walk short so the drinks reception still belongs to you.
Emma & Tom: another Hothorpe story
Emma and Tom celebrated at Hothorpe in September 2023. Their photographs bring a different rhythm to the same woodland setting: time with the wedding party, an easy walk together and a reception full of movement. They are a lovely reminder that a venue does not dictate how your wedding has to look or feel.

Photographs that still feel like you
We give gentle direction when it helps, then let the conversation carry on. A glance or a laugh often says more than an elaborate pose. It also means your gallery holds onto the relationship between you, alongside the place you chose.

Let the evening have its own energy
The story continues when the music starts. We stay interested in the people on the dance floor, the guests cheering them on and the unexpected moments between songs. Emma and Tom's highlight below brings that movement back alongside the photographs.

02 / Leicester / Nalini & Sanjay
Winstanley House: a Leicester celebration with space for family
Winstanley House offers a different starting point: a Georgian house close to Leicester's centre, set within public parkland. Its ballrooms and terraces give you indoor celebration space with greenery outside, making it a useful comparison if you want a city wedding without losing the feeling of a garden setting.

The details and people that matter
Nalini and Sanjay's wedding puts family at the heart of the photographs. A close bridal portrait gives space to Nalini's henna and jewellery; the wider pictures return to the people sharing the celebration. We want both in a gallery, without asking the day to stop for every detail.
If your plans include several ceremonies or family traditions, tell us what is important and who should be involved. We work through the timings together, allowing each part of the day its own space rather than squeezing everything into a generic schedule.

For a Leicester city wedding: share the exact preparation and ceremony locations early. Allow time for arrivals, parking and any move between venues, then protect some unhurried time with your guests.

03 / Castle Donington border area / Kelly & Luke
Donington Park Farmhouse: red brick, barn character and evening light
To the north of Leicester, Donington Park Farmhouse is a barn wedding option in the Leicestershire and Derbyshire border area. The venue brings together the Threshing Barn, a courtyard and the farmhouse, with the character of the old buildings running through the celebration.

Kelly and Luke's portraits show two simple ways to use that setting: the red-brick facade and a moment in warm evening light. Neither needs a long excursion. If the weather gives us a lovely patch of light, we can suggest a few minutes outside and bring you straight back to the party.
On a venue visit, follow the route your guests will actually take from ceremony to drinks, dining and dancing. A barn can feel wonderfully intimate, but the flow between spaces matters just as much as its beams and brickwork. Ask where people can sit and talk while the dance floor gets going.

04 / Surrounding-area comparison / Kettering, Northamptonshire
Barton Hall: a country-house alternative across the border
If you are comparing venues south of Leicestershire, Barton Hall in Kettering is a separate Northamptonshire option. Its country house, historic Orangery and mature grounds offer a different balance of indoor space and gardens.

A few organised pictures, plenty of real moments
Laura and Gavin's wedding moves from everyone gathered outside the house to the hugs and laughter in between. We help organise a concise group-photo list before the day, so those important pictures fit comfortably around the celebration.

05 / Surrounding-area comparison / Near Daventry, Northamptonshire
Dodmoor House: barns, a courtyard and a relaxed party
Dodmoor House is another Northamptonshire comparison rather than a Leicester venue. Its converted barns and courtyard give the celebration a close-knit setting, with guests moving between the outdoor gathering space and the rooms inside.

Serena and Josh's photographs are about the people enjoying it: a bouquet toss in the courtyard and friends catching up beneath the timber beams. If this is the kind of atmosphere you want, allow the drinks reception to breathe. Everything does not need its own formal activity.

Planning your Leicester wedding: a day that flows
City celebrations and countryside venues ask slightly different things of a timeline. A few useful decisions early on can make the actual wedding feel much easier.
- Plan the real route: confirm entrances, parking and any separate preparation addresses. Around Leicester, allow comfortable travel time rather than treating a map estimate as a promise.
- See the rainy-day version: ask to walk through the indoor ceremony and drinks arrangements. You should like that option too, especially when woodland or courtyard spaces are a big part of the appeal.
- Keep portraits close: a 15 to 20 minute stroll is usually enough for a varied set of couple pictures. An optional short evening walk can make use of changing light without taking a large chunk out of your reception.
- Choose your important people: a short family-group list and one helpful person who knows everyone keep the organised photographs moving. Leave the rest of the afternoon open for the moments you cannot put on a list.
Eight venues for a Leicester-area shortlist

One photo and film duo, one comfortable rhythm

Photography and film should fit around the same wedding day. After more than 400 weddings together, we know how to give each other space, share a portrait walk and keep the attention on you. You explain your plans once, and we work from the same priorities.
The result is a connected collection of photographs and film, with a warm, natural feel throughout. You can spend the ceremony with your partner and the reception with your favourite people, knowing we are following the story together.
Our combined Photo and Video Team package saves £300 compared with booking our photo and video packages separately. One booking agreement and a £120 deposit keep the planning straightforward.
Your Leicester wedding film: the voices you want to keep
A photograph can hold a look or an embrace. Film brings back the words, the way someone laughs and the sound of everyone cheering. Those things become even more valuable as the years go by.
Our video packages include a 7 to 10 minute cinematic highlight and full documentary coverage of the ceremony and speeches. The highlight is a way to return to the atmosphere; the longer documentary keeps the complete moments for you to watch privately with the people who matter.

The things couples ask us
Leicester wedding photography and film questions
Do you cover Leicester and the rest of Leicestershire?
Yes. We photograph and film weddings in Leicester and across the surrounding county, including the Loughborough, Market Harborough and Castle Donington areas. We are based near Cardiff and travel throughout England and Wales. Send your date and venue so we can confirm availability for your plans.
Have you worked at Winstanley House and Hothorpe?
Yes. This guide includes Nalini and Sanjay's Winstanley House wedding and two celebrations at Hothorpe, Amee and Sean in 2026 and Emma and Tom in 2023. The pictures and Emma and Tom's highlight are from our own work. Ask the venue about its current spaces and arrangements, as these can change between weddings.
We feel awkward in photographs. How much posing is involved?
Very little. Most of the day is documentary coverage while you spend time with your guests. For portraits, we usually suggest a relaxed 15 to 20 minute stroll rather than a long series of poses. We give you enough gentle guidance to feel comfortable, then leave room for you to be yourselves.
Can you cover a wedding with several ceremonies or family traditions?
Tell us what you have planned and what matters most to each of you. We work through the order of events, any separate locations, important people and meaningful moments before the wedding. For a celebration across several days, ask us for a quote that matches the actual coverage required.
What happens if it rains at a woodland or barn wedding?
We plan around the venue's indoor option rather than hoping the forecast changes. Ask to see the wet-weather ceremony space and where everyone will gather during drinks. We can make portraits indoors or use a short dry spell outside, while keeping the rest of the day moving comfortably.
Is travel to Leicester included, and how do we book?
Travel throughout England and Wales is included in our standard full-day packages. Send your date, venue and preferred coverage through our enquiry form. Cam or Beth will reply personally within 24 to 48 hours. Once availability is confirmed, a £120 deposit secures your date, with the balance due one month before the wedding.
