A country house hotel with an Orangery

Barton Hall Hotel is on Barton Road at Barton Seagrave, Kettering, Northamptonshire (NN15 6RS). Its own site describes a country house in nearly 10 acres of grounds, with an Orangery for ceremonies, a Garden Spa in the gardens and 37 bedrooms. Laura and Gavin: the aisle, the lawn and a song

Laura and Gavin married on 11 August 2023, and we photographed and filmed their day. The highlight film further down this page is from it. Below are the photographs of their wedding that are on this site.

Gavin waits at the end of the aisle in a bright white room, in a black dinner suit and bow tie with a white buttonhole. Guests sit on white chairs on either side, and Laura is arriving in the distance beneath an arched fanlight.

A groom in a black dinner suit and bow tie with a white buttonhole stands at the end of an aisle in a bright white room, guests seated on white chairs on either side and the bride arriving in the distance beneath an arched fanlight

Afterwards the whole wedding party and their guests gather on the lawn in front of the stone house, with the bride in white, bridesmaids in green and plenty of arms in the air. It shows how much room the lawn gives a big group.

The last photograph is in black and white: a guest sings into a microphone with his mouth wide open while the man beside him laughs. It is a reminder that the party matters as much as the portraits.

More photographs cover the ceremony and the house. In the pale ceremony room Laura looks down, smiling, as Gavin bows his head beside her, guests seated around them. The photograph at the top of this page shows them walking out together under the arched window of the conservatory as confetti falls, Laura carrying a large bouquet of gypsophila. And the stone manor itself, with its dormer windows, stands behind a lawn, guests seated outside on the terrace.

02 / The spaces / From the venue's own pages

The Orangery, the Charles Suite and the Garden Spa

The venue's wedding page names the Orangery as the setting for the ceremony and lists it for up to 100 guests. It also names the Charles Suite as a large function room, and a Garden Spa in the gardens, described as a new al fresco spa facility. The grounds are described as nearly 10 acres.

The venue describes a listed building, but its own pages are not consistent about the grade, so confirm that with the venue. The pages we read do not give a ceremony licence, reception capacities or whether the hotel can be hired exclusively, so ask when you enquire.

03 / Staying at Barton Hall / From the venue's own pages

Thirty-seven bedrooms on site

The venue's accommodation page lists 37 individually styled bedrooms, including two accessible ground-floor rooms, in standard, twin, superior, four poster, family and accessible types. The page does not give check-in or check-out times, so ask the hotel. For photographs, staying on site means getting ready beside the place you will marry.

Planning your photographs at Barton Hall Hotel

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. The ceremony room: the Orangery is the venue's ceremony setting. Ask how many guests it holds on your date and when it is free, so we can plan the morning and the first photographs around it.
  2. Group photographs: the lawn in front of the house is a roomy place for them. We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask someone who knows everyone to round people up.
  3. Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. Ask the venue which parts of the nearly 10 acres of grounds are open on your day.
  4. Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. The Orangery and the Charles Suite are the indoor spaces the venue lists.
  5. The party: tell us when the speeches, the first dance and any live music are planned, so we can plan around them.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a country house with an Orangery and a lawn for the group photograph is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
