How to plan your wedding photography timeline
Start with your ceremony time and your priorities. Work backwards for preparations and forwards for the evening, leaving breathing room between the moments you want to remember.

Start with the moments that matter to you
Before filling a schedule, each choose three things you would love to have captured. These might be getting ready with a parent, the ceremony, time with grandparents, speeches or the dance floor. Share those priorities with us so coverage supports your day.
Check the ceremony time, meal service and any fixed venue timings first. If your ceremony and reception are in different places, include the actual journey, parking and time to gather your guests. Coverage hours run continuously from the agreed start time, so travel between locations uses part of that time.
Give preparations room to breathe
We typically suggest beginning around two and a half hours before the ceremony. That gives space for details, getting ready and the atmosphere of the morning. The most useful start time depends on where you are both preparing, how far apart those places are and when you need to leave.
Tell your hair and makeup team when you need to be dressed, rather than only giving them the ceremony time. Leave a little room to put on outfits, find missing essentials and enjoy the moment. If a first look with a parent matters to you, include it in the plan.
Keep group photographs simple
Write a short list of the groups that matter most, using names rather than only relationships. Ask someone who knows your guests to help gather people. This is especially useful when there are family sensitivities, mobility needs or people who need to leave early.
A shorter essential list usually makes it easier to spend time with your guests. We can discuss additional combinations, but it helps to separate must-have photographs from nice-to-have ones. Leave space for real conversations and candid moments as well.
Make portraits a short part of the celebration
You do not need to disappear for hours to make beautiful portraits. A short walk near the venue can give you a quiet moment together as well as photographs and film. We can work around the weather and light on the day, rather than treating a particular outdoor location as a requirement.
For a winter wedding, useful daylight may fall earlier in the schedule. For summer celebrations, a brief evening walk can work well. Check sunset for your wedding date and location with your suppliers before fixing a portrait time.
Check the finish time before booking
Standard coverage is 10.5 hours: starting at 10:30am means finishing at 9pm. Luxury provides 11.5 hours and Platinum provides 13 hours. Your package page and calculator show the exact inclusions and any extra coverage choices.
If speeches, a first dance or a surprise performance are essential, check that they sit comfortably inside your coverage.
