A timber barn, brick walls and an exclusive weekend
Bore Place is at Chiddingstone, Kent, just outside the village and near Sevenoaks. The venue's own wedding page describes a private 500-acre organic estate that is home to the Commonwork Trust, a charity, and says its wedding profits go back into educational and sustainability projects. The photographs show brick walls, an ivy-covered archway, a timber building with a tiled roof and a timber-framed room for dancing.
We photographed and filmed one wedding here: Katherine and Ryan on 4 May 2024. It is the one wedding in this guide, so every photograph below is from that day.

01 / May 2024 / Katherine and Ryan
Katherine and Ryan: a brick doorway, a flower arch and confetti
Katherine and Ryan married on 4 May 2024. The photograph at the top of this page is the two of them kissing in a red-brick doorway with white columns and wisteria above. Elsewhere on the estate, they kiss beneath an arch of red and burgundy flowers in front of a timber building with a tiled roof, Katherine in a long veil.

Katherine and Ryan walk hand in hand across the lawn through confetti, with guests lined up on either side, Katherine in a flower crown with a red bouquet and Ryan in a dark suit with a red tie.
Later the two of them stand in front of an ivy-covered red-brick wall with an arched opening, and hold each other among the ivy, Katherine in a shawl.

The day finishes on the dance floor in a timber-framed room, with Ryan dipping Katherine while guests watch.

The Hide, the Barn, the House and the Study
The venue says it is licensed for marriages and civil ceremonies indoors and out. Its wedding page names the Hide, an outdoor ceremony area behind a brick wall with handmade oak benches and a shelter, which seats 100, and the Barn, a restored 17th-century timber barn that seats up to 100 for dinner and holds up to 130 in the evening, and is also the wet-weather option. It also names a drawing room in the House for ceremonies or drinks, a terrace overlooking the pond and the Study, which it lists for winter weddings of up to 50.
The gardens include a walled garden with a reflecting pond, an apple orchard, a large terrace and a giant lawn. The venue says couples have exclusive use of the estate from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. Its page gives different figures for how many people the House sleeps in different places, so confirm sleeping numbers and what is included with the venue.
03 / Staying at Bore Place / From the venue's own page
Bedrooms in the House, the Small Barn and the cottages
The venue lists a House with 12 bedrooms, a Small Barn with 2 bedrooms, the Old Stable with 11 bedrooms and two cottages, Cedar Cottage and Mulberry Cottage, plus glamping for extra guests. It says the Small Barn is used by the bridal party to get ready and suggests Cedar Cottage for getting ready ahead of the day. Ask the venue what the package includes and what costs extra.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Where you marry: the Hide, the Barn, the House or the terrace. Tell us your choice so we can arrange the day around it.
- Getting ready: ask which building is yours on the morning, since that is where the first photographs happen.
- Rain: the venue names the Barn as its wet-weather option. Agree it with the venue when you confirm the order of the day.
- Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. The lawn gives you room, and the Barn gives you a sheltered backup.
- Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The brick walls, the ivy archway, the doorway and the gardens give you very different backdrops. We check sunset and light times for your date in advance and agree the plan with you.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so an estate with a timber barn, brick walls and a lawn is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
