A threshing barn on a working farm
Bowerchalke Barn is part of Knowle Farm in Bowerchalke, near Salisbury in Wiltshire (SP5 5BP). The venue describes it as a thatched threshing barn in the Wiltshire countryside, about 10 miles from Salisbury, with an exposed elm timber frame under a large thatched roof. The farm is still a working one, with sheep, cattle and arable land, and the venue says its fields, farmyard and chalk banks are all available for photographs.
We have photographed and filmed two weddings here, in August 2024 and June 2026. This page follows the June wedding of Vanessa and Harvey in photographs and on film, and shows the August wedding of Edward and Amy in photographs and on film. Our Salisbury guide and Wiltshire guide show the barn beside other venues, and here we stay with the barn itself. What we say about the barn and the farm comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.

The barn, the hut and the fields
The venue says the barn can accommodate 130 guests for the wedding breakfast and the evening party, and that it is suitable for a civil ceremony. It has three large double doors and a main sliding door that open onto the fields and a farm courtyard, an oak-topped bar and a fully fitted kitchen beside it that its partner caterers use. The luxury toilets are shepherd's huts. Outside, an Oak Ceremony Hut is available for an outdoor ceremony.
The venue says you have exclusive use of the barn and grounds, with hire covering a day for set-up, the wedding day and a day for clearing up, and full access from the day before until 12pm the day after. Two large fields beside the barn are available for an extra tent, and the venue says carriages should be booked for 11pm. Each of these is the venue's own information, so confirm the details for your own date.
02 / June 2026 / Vanessa and Harvey
Vanessa and Harvey: lavender, a farm track and confetti on the terrace
Vanessa and Harvey married at Bowerchalke Barn on 6 June 2026. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: they kiss on a gravel path between beds of purple lavender, under a timber pergola hung with festoon lights, with Vanessa in a veil and Harvey in a navy suit.
The morning is quieter. Vanessa sits in a satin robe with a glass of champagne while a make-up artist works, in a room with exposed oak beams and a sloping ceiling. In the next photograph she is in her dress and veil with a bouquet of white flowers, and her father, in a blue suit, wipes away a tear as he sees her.

The ceremony is inside the barn. Harvey, in a blue suit, and Vanessa, in a lace-backed gown and veil, hold hands in front of their seated guests, and Vanessa smiles as she looks back over her shoulder, the dark timbers of the barn behind them.

Afterwards the two of them walk along a gravel farm track between tall grass and trees, Vanessa laughing and reaching up to touch Harvey's face, and later they come down a paved terrace through a shower of confetti, Harvey raising Vanessa's hand while their guests cheer on both sides and the edge of a marquee shows behind the trees.

Edward and Amy: fairy lights in the barn and a walk across the lawn
Edward and Amy married at Bowerchalke Barn on 24 August 2024. Their ceremony is in a timber-framed barn with fairy lights strung along the beams. Amy walks down the aisle in a strapless gown with a bouquet of white flowers, on the arm of a man in a checked tweed jacket, and at the front Edward and Amy hold hands and lean in for their first kiss beneath a ring of candles, their guests watching from the rows behind.

Afterwards they walk away from us across a sunlit lawn, hand in hand, with trees and a green hill behind them. In the evening they hold each other close for their first dance in front of a wall of fairy lights, a floral hoop and stacked lit crates, with a DJ at a laptop behind them.

Ask the venue about accommodation
The venue's website does not list bedrooms or accommodation, so ask the venue for its current suggestions when you enquire. The venue does say there is a designated parking area and a field for wedding activities, which matters for a barn on a working farm.
For photographs, tell us where each of you will be getting ready and how far it is from the barn, so we can plan the morning around the drive.
Planning your photographs at Bowerchalke Barn
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Barn or Oak Ceremony Hut: ask which suits your numbers and the weather, and tell us your plan so we can arrange the morning around it.
- Rain: agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The farm track, the garden paths and the fields give you very different backdrops.
- The evening: the venue says carriages should be booked for 11pm, and our evening coverage follows your booked hours.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a thatched barn with fields on every side is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £300 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages.
