This page is about weddings at Deer Park Country House, near Honiton in East Devon, where we have photographed and filmed two weddings. A country house that is yours alone for the day
Deer Park Country House stands at Buckerell, near Honiton in East Devon (EX14 3PG). The venue describes it as a totally private, exclusive-use wedding venue, with 80 acres of private estate, and says that Deer Park is always exclusive use. You have the house and the grounds to yourselves, with no other wedding on the estate.
We have photographed and filmed two weddings here, both in 2024: Bethany and Sean in August and Chelsea and Liam in December. We are Cam and Beth, the photo and video duo behind Bright Sight, and the pair of days could hardly look more different. This page stays with the house itself, with a highlight film from each wedding. Our Devon guide and Somerset guide mention Deer Park beside other venues. What we say about the rooms and gardens comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.

The Orangery, the lounges and the gardens
The venue's centrepiece is a Georgian Orangery that it says takes up to 190 day guests, light-filled by day and glowing after dark for candlelit dining. Beside it are a Botanical Conservatory, two lounges with fireplaces and Loxton's Gallery, which the venue calls French-inspired. Its spring and summer page says ceremonies are held in the Summer House.
Outside, the venue lists a Walled Garden for after-hours cocktails and an Italian Garden where guests have drinks. It says lunch or dinner can be served al fresco, and its Garden Team dresses communal areas with seasonal blooms. For the evening, the Orangery bar is licensed until midnight, and the venue says an extension to 1am is available. Each of these is the venue's own information, so confirm the details for your own date.
02 / August 2024 / Bethany and Sean
Bethany and Sean: a column, a gravel path and a terrace in August
Bethany and Sean married at Deer Park in August 2024. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits, in a quiet corner beside a white column and a framed illustrated map of the estate. Sean, in a black dinner suit with a white rose buttonhole, kisses Bethany's forehead while she smiles with her eyes closed, a bouquet of white roses and eucalyptus in her hand.
Their ceremony is outdoors, on a stone terrace. The photograph below looks down the aisle from behind the couple: guests on both sides, clipped box balls in pots, rows of small trees, a long lawn and wooded hills beyond, and flower girls in white sitting among the guests.

Afterwards the party spills into the gardens. Bethany walks away along a gravel path between box hedges and white hydrangeas, her hair in long waves and a glass in one hand, and one of the flower girls follows close behind, holding the train of her dress in both hands while guests gather on the terrace ahead.

Chelsea and Liam: a Christmas tree, candlelight and sparklers on the steps
Chelsea and Liam married at Deer Park on 22 December 2024, three days before Christmas, and the house was dressed for it. Their ceremony is in a pale, high-ceilinged room under a large gold starburst chandelier, with strings of fairy lights overhead, arched mirrors on either side and a Christmas tree behind the couple, tied with a huge red bow. The aisle is lined with candles in glass and trailing greenery, and Chelsea's veil runs a long way behind her as she and Liam stand with the celebrant in front of their guests.

After dark, the guests line the stone steps outside and hold up sparklers. Chelsea, in a white satin gown, laughs as she and Liam walk down between them, Liam in a tweed waistcoat with a red bow tie and a red buttonhole, the lit windows of the house behind.

Watch their highlight on YouTubeAugust or December at the same house
The two weddings show how completely the season changes Deer Park. In August the day is outdoors and green: a terrace ceremony under trees, white hydrangeas along the gravel path and a flower girl in a pale dress. In December the day moves inside and gets warmer. A tree, candles and fairy lights set the room, and the photographs end on the steps at night.
The venue offers separate packages for April to September and for October to March, and its wedding FAQ says winter weddings usually carry Christmas decoration from mid-November to the first week of January. If you are marrying in winter, daylight is short and we keep outdoor photographs close to the indoors, straight from the ceremony. We check sunset and light times for your date in advance, whichever month you choose.
04 / Staying at Deer Park / From the venue's own description
Bedrooms in the house and a Tree House
The venue lists 14 bedrooms in the main house, included for the wedding night, plus the Tree House. It also offers Garden Rooms that can be reserved for the wedding night and two cottages, the Playhouse and the Shed, for the night before. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is at 10am, and exclusive hire ends at 11am the following morning.
For photographs, a room in the house means getting ready a short walk from the ceremony and a quiet morning with your people. Ask the venue which rooms come with your booking and when you can have them.
Planning your photographs at Deer Park Country House
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Where the ceremony happens: the venue's pages describe more than one space, so ask which suits your numbers and the season, and tell us so we can plan the morning around it.
- Rain: agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together, and the gardens give you plenty of choice of backdrop.
- The evening: the venue says the Orangery bar is licensed until midnight, and our evening coverage follows your booked hours. If you want a sparkler moment like Chelsea and Liam's, ask the venue what it allows.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a country house with an Orangery, several lounges and a lot of garden is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £300 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages, including the drive to East Devon.
