Eastnor Castle is at Eastnor, near Ledbury in Herefordshire (HR8 1RL). The venue describes a castle nestled at the foot of the dramatic Malvern Hills, in a country parkland estate with a deer park, available only for exclusive hire. It lists 12 castle bedrooms and three holiday cottages on the estate that sleep up to 28 guests.

We photographed and filmed Kristina and James's wedding here on 29 July 2022, and their day is told in the photographs on this page, opened by the two of them in black and white on the lawn. A civil room, a village church and the castle grounds

The venue offers a civil ceremony in the castle, in a room it describes with tapestries, chandeliers and large windows, a short walk to the village church with its stained-glass windows, or an outdoor ceremony in the castle grounds. Dining is in the Dining Room or the Great Hall, drinks and canapes on the Terrace and dancing in the Octagon Room, with fireworks over the lake in the evening. It does not give guest numbers on its main wedding page, so ask for the current figures in writing.

In Kristina and James's photographs the grounds give a stone parapet above a lawn and a high castle wall hung with ivy and big-leaved plants, and the night ends with fireworks over the water.

Kristina and James: sunglasses on the lawn and fireworks over the lake

Kristina and James married at Eastnor Castle on 29 July 2022. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: in black and white, James in sunglasses and a three-piece suit and Kristina in sunglasses and a veil, hand in hand on a lawn in front of a stone parapet with wooded hills behind.

The morning starts in a quiet room, where Kristina in a lace robe has her make-up done by an artist in a striped top while a bridesmaid in a pink robe watches from the doorway with a glass of champagne.

Later the two of them walk hand in hand along a path in front of a high castle wall covered with ivy and large-leaved plants, Kristina in a long white gown and James in navy, small beneath the stonework.

At night James kisses Kristina, in a sparkling dress, with one arm raised as a firework bursts in the sky above them.

Twelve castle bedrooms and three cottages

The venue says the castle has 12 award-winning bedrooms and that three holiday cottages on the estate can sleep up to 28 guests. Ask which rooms come with your booking and who can stay.

For photographs, getting ready in the castle means the make-up, the dress and the flowers are close to the ceremony, as Kristina's quiet morning shows. Tell us your rooms and timings and we will plan the day around them.

Planning your photographs at Eastnor Castle

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

1. Ceremony: A civil ceremony in the castle, the village church or the grounds. Tell us your choice so we can plan the morning around it.
2. The evening: The venue stages fireworks over the lake. Tell us the time so we can be in position for it.
3. Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
4. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
5. Portraits: We usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The parapet and lawn, the castle wall and the lake give you very different backdrops.

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a castle with terraces, a great hall and a lake is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
