In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. This page is about weddings at Fairyhill on the Gower near Swansea in South Wales, where we have worked on two weddings in 2022. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.

A Georgian estate on the Gower

Fairyhill is on the Gower peninsula near Swansea, part of The Oldwalls Collection. The venue describes itself as a place where timeless architecture meets modern celebration, with woodland ceremonies, relaxed alfresco drinks and a timeline you shape yourselves rather than a fixed package. It hosts weddings only; its estate page says it does not host religious ceremonies but that there are plenty of options locally.

We worked on two weddings here in 2022: Louise and Ashley in April, filmed, and Max and Gwen in December, photographed and filmed. This page follows Max and Gwen's day in photographs, with the rose arch opening it. Our Swansea and Gower guide shows the Gower beside other venues; here we stay with Fairyhill itself. What we say about the estate comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.

The K Room, the terraces and the lawn

The venue's estate page calls the K Room iconic, with soaring ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass and panoramic views across the estate. In the main house a grand reception room suits celebrations of 20 to 60 guests, with banquet tables. The page does not give a capacity for the K Room, so ask for the current figure in writing.

Couples can marry outdoors with the Welsh countryside as a backdrop or indoors in one of the estate's indoor spaces, with a choice of ceremony settings. Outside there is a Tuscan Terrace for al fresco dining, a lawn with countryside views and a terrace for drinks. The Forge is for getting ready and the Georgian Lounge is for quiet time as a couple.

02 / December 2022 / Max and Gwen

Max and Gwen: a white wedding car, a rose arch and a glass-walled room

Max and Gwen married at Fairyhill on 5 December 2022. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: Gwen in a long-sleeved gown and veil with a bouquet of white flowers, Max in a black dinner suit, holding each other on a gravel path under a black metal rose arch with a building among the trees behind.

Earlier they stand beside a white vintage car decorated with ribbons on the gravel drive, Max in black tie holding Gwen, with autumn woodland behind. On a grassy path between dark trees Gwen lays a hand on Max's cheek, and a glass building shows through the branches.

The wedding breakfast is laid in a long glass-walled room, white cloths on the tables, gold chairs with white sashes, wooden ceiling lights overhead and autumn trees outside the windows.

03 / Staying at Fairyhill / From the venue's own description

A sleepover on site

The venue says accommodation is on site, so nobody needs to worry about booking taxis. Its sleepover page describes the Forge, where the bridal party can stay the night before the wedding, and a Bridal Wing for the wedding night. It does not give a bedroom count on the pages we read, so ask how many rooms come with your booking.

For photographs, a night before in the Forge means the morning starts calmly, with hair, make-up and flowers a few steps from the ceremony. Tell us which rooms you have so we can plan the morning around them.

A real wedding on film

Fairyhill: Louise and Ashley’s April 2022 wedding on film

Louise and Ashley’s highlight film retells their April 2022 wedding at Fairyhill, from the first moments of the day to the evening. This page has no photographs of their day, so the film is where you can see and hear how a wedding here looks, then ask the venue which of its spaces suit your numbers.

Planning your photographs at Fairyhill

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Ceremony setting: Outdoors with the countryside behind you, or indoors in one of the estate's spaces. Tell us your choice so we can plan the morning around it.
  2. Getting ready: The Forge is the venue's space for getting ready. Ask when you can use it, and whether the bridal party can stay the night before.
  3. Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
  4. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
  5. Portraits: We usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The rose arch, the gravel drive and the woodland path give you very different backdrops.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a Georgian house with a glass room, a rose arch and woodland is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
