A private estate a few minutes from the Kent coast
Hayne House is at Saltwood, near Hythe in Kent (CT21 4EH). The venue describes itself as a private estate with landscaped gardens, just minutes from the Kent coast, and offers couples private use of the entire venue. Its main buildings are a country house, an Orangery for dining and a former hunting lodge for guests.
We have photographed two weddings here: Alice and Ricky on 1 September 2022, and Charlotte and Oli on 5 June 2025. This page follows both in photographs. Our Kent guide shows Hayne House beside other venues in the county, and here we stay with the estate itself. What we say about the buildings comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.
For current venue details, explore Hayne House. The two weddings were in June and September, so ask the venue how the gardens and rooms change in other seasons.
01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description
A garden pavilion, an Orangery and two ways to hold a ceremony
The venue is licensed for indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Outdoors, it describes a pavilion in manicured gardens that seats up to 120 guests. Indoors, the ceremony can take place in the Atrium or the Garden Room, both part of the Orangery.
The Orangery is also where the wedding breakfast happens. The venue says it is purpose-built for 120 guests by day and 150 in the evening, with garden views and doors that open onto the lawns, and a menu built around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
The estate also lists a woodland walk and eco lodges on its map. Two getting-ready rooms, including the Pamper Lodge, are available from the morning of the wedding. The venue's packages include the Orangery, the country house and the landscaped gardens for your exclusive use.
02 / September 2022 / Alice and Ricky
Alice and Ricky: pink robes, a glass roof and pampas grass
Alice and Ricky married at Hayne House on 1 September 2022. The morning starts on a bed in the getting-ready room, where bridesmaids in pink robes are laughing together, and then moves to a tall window where a bridesmaid straightens Alice's dress.

At the ceremony the two of them hold hands and smile at each other beneath a glass roof, with guests looking on behind them. Afterwards, in the garden, Ricky in a black bow tie and Alice in an off-the-shoulder gown pause beside stone steps.

The last photograph of their story is a kiss among tall pampas grass, a reminder that the estate's garden edges are as useful for portraits as the lawns.

03 / June 2025 / Charlotte and Oli
Charlotte and Oli: a small boy, a small dog and a piggyback home
Charlotte and Oli married here on 5 June 2025. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: Oli in a stone-coloured suit and Charlotte in an off-the-shoulder gown and a long veil, kissing on a garden path beneath a weeping willow with festoon lights strung along a fence.
Before the ceremony Oli kneels in a wooden bay window to talk with a small boy in a matching suit, and Charlotte stands holding her bouquet in a bright room with a bay window.

Later Charlotte walks along a garden path beside two guests with a half-timbered house behind her.

Guests shower the couple with confetti beside a white gazebo, and a small dog joins the portraits when the two of them crouch to greet it. In a close black and white portrait they laugh together.

The evening ends with a piggyback along a lamplit drive and a dramatic dip on the dance floor.

04 / Staying at Hayne House / From the venue's own description
Bedrooms in the house and the former hunting lodge
The venue lists a country house with six bedrooms and a former hunting lodge with individually styled rooms, including a honeymoon suite. Its own pages give different room counts in different places, so ask the venue to confirm how many people it can sleep and which rooms come with your date.
For photographs, ask which of the getting-ready rooms you can use and from what time, so we can plan the morning around where each of you is.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Two ceremony options: The venue can hold your ceremony outdoors in the pavilion or indoors in the Atrium or Garden Room. Ask when the venue needs you to choose so we can plan the morning and the portraits around it.
- Timing: The venue's main page does not give finishing times, so ask for the timings of your date in writing. Tell us once you have agreed them and we will plan the portrait walk around the light.
- Rain: The willow path and the gazebo show how much the gardens give even on a soft day. Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
- Children and pets: A small boy and a small dog both appear in Charlotte and Oli's photographs. If children or a dog are part of your day, tell us and we will leave a few minutes for them in the timeline.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a country house, an Orangery and a garden full of corners is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
