A tipi wedding venue near Newark on the edge of Sherwood Forest
Inkersall Grange Farm is on Inkersall Grange Road at Bilsthorpe, near Newark in Nottinghamshire (NG22 8TN). Its own page describes a tipi wedding venue in a rustic-meets-luxe style, on the edge of Sherwood Forest and about 20 minutes from Nottingham city centre and from Newark. The page gives three large reception tipis, a smaller snug tipi, a ceremony barn and an on-site bar, with firepits indoors and out.
We photographed Becky and Rob's wedding here on 11 April 2022. These are the two photographs of their day that are on this site: a quiet portrait against the barn wall, and a game of tug of war on the lawn in front of the tipis.

01 / April 2022 / Becky and Rob
Becky and Rob: a dark barn wall and a tug of war
Becky and Rob married on 11 April 2022, and we photographed their day. The photograph at the top of this page is from it: the two of them stand face to face in front of a tall dark timber barn wall. Becky holds a bouquet of peach and pink flowers, her lace-sleeved dress sweeps out to one side and her hair blows out behind her. The plain dark wall leaves the two of them as the only detail in the frame.
The second photograph is in black and white and shows a very different mood. On the lawn in front of the tipis, Becky and three bridesmaids pull on one end of a rope against Rob, in a flat cap, and three men in tweed. Everyone is laughing, and a small figure peeks out of the doorway of the tipis behind them. It is a good reminder that a lawn in front of the tipis has room for more than a line-up.

Three more photographs: Rob dips Becky in her full satin gown to kiss her on the grass in front of a wooden fence and hedge, the tips of the tipis showing beyond. They kiss against a tall dark timber wall, Becky's long train spread out behind her. And they sit on rocking chairs on the decking of a small weathered timber cabin with a wagon wheel by the door, bare trees behind.

02 / The spaces / From the venue's own page
The tipis, Kings Barn and the snug
The venue's ceremony page names the ceremony barn as Kings Barn, hand-built beside the venue with views across the grounds, and its main page says the barn is licensed for wedding and civil partnership ceremonies. The pricing page gives it as holding 120 guests and says registrar fees are arranged and paid separately. After the ceremony, guests move to the tipis. The ceremony page also offers a church wedding followed by a reception here, or a blessing on site after vows elsewhere.
The three giant reception tipis and the snug are joined as one space with solid wooden flooring, seating up to 150 on tables and benches, with chiavari chairs for the top table. The snug has chesterfield sofas, armchairs and an indoor fire pit, with another fire pit outdoors. Lights wrap the tipi poles and festoon lights hang in the trees, and there are heaters and fans, a sound system and an on-site bar with its own team. The venue says it is totally private for your wedding and has plenty of on-site parking.
03 / Access and staying / From the venue's own pages
Access, bedrooms and getting here
Weddings run from April to October. For Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday weddings the pricing page gives access from 1.30 pm to 6 pm the day before to decorate, and from 8 am to 11 am the morning after. Sunday weddings run as a single day, with access from 9 am.
On site, Wrangler's Den is a log cabin for the newlyweds that sleeps four, and the accommodation page also lists a shepherd's hut and a bell tent glamping village. For the wider party it lists Fairview Log Cabins 3.3 miles away, about a 10-minute drive, then four more places between 4.6 and 6.6 miles away. The venue's contact page gives the address as Inkersall Grange Road, Bilsthorpe, NG22 8TN, and its map names the B6179, B177 and A60 as the main roads around the farm. The pages give no finish time, so ask.
Planning your photographs at Inkersall Grange Farm
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- The ceremony: Kings Barn holds 120 and the tipis seat 150, so if your day guest list is above 120, ask the venue how the ceremony works. Tell us the time so we can plan the morning and the first photographs around it.
- Getting ready: Wrangler's Den, the log cabin for the newlyweds, sleeps four. Ask who has it and from what time on the morning; Sunday weddings have access from 9 am, and the other days give access to decorate the day before.
- Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. The open lawn in front of the tipis has room for a big group, and a game like the tug of war is a good way to get everyone laughing. Ask someone who knows everyone to round people up.
- Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together if you have booked both. A plain timber wall, the tipis and the open lawn each give a different look within a few paces, and the venue lists festoon lights in the trees and a fire pit outdoors for the evening.
- Rain and cold: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. Kings Barn, the tipis and the snug are the covered spaces the venue lists, and the tipis have wooden floors and heaters, which matters for a spring or autumn date.
- Late light: if you would like portraits in the last light, tell us the sunset time on your date and we can plan around it.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a tipi venue with a barn and an open lawn is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
