A stone country house in 93 acres near Horsham
South Lodge Hotel is at Lower Beeding near Horsham in West Sussex (RH13 6PS). The venue describes 93 acres of Sussex countryside, with grounds that include a rock garden, a wildflower meadow, a natural swimming pool and a vineyard. Its own wedding pages list indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, a banqueting room with views of the South Downs, and a spa.
We photographed Leah and Alex's wedding here on 6 September 2026 and filmed Volkan and Katrina's on 8 October 2021. Leah and Alex's day is told in photographs; Volkan and Katrina's is told in stills taken from their wedding film, and the highlight film plays further down the page. Our Sussex guide shows more weddings in the county, and here we stay with the house and the couple. What we say about the rooms comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the pictures comes from looking at them.
For current venue details, explore South Lodge. These weddings were in early September and early October, so ask the venue how the house and grounds look in other seasons.
01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description
An outdoor pavilion, four ceremony rooms and a banqueting room
The venue's wedding spaces page lists six rooms and spaces. For ceremonies it names the Pavilion, an outdoor space with the 19th-century house as a backdrop, for up to 180 guests; the Wordsworth, a lower-ground-floor room it calls its most popular for civil ceremonies, for up to 180; the Glyndebourne, a first-floor room with a peaked ceiling and chandeliers, for up to 80; and the Goodwood, a second-floor room, for up to 50.
The Gladstone is the banqueting room, with light from triple-aspect windows and views of the South Downs, and the venue gives it as up to 180 guests for a grand reception. The Disraeli has a private terrace and is listed as suited to 10 to 50 guests. The page does not give evening numbers or say whether the house can be hired exclusively, so ask for both in writing.

02 / September 2026 / Leah and Alex
Leah and Alex: a confetti exit, a terrace under white parasols and the steps up to the house
Leah and Alex married on 6 September 2026. The photograph at the top of this page shows the two of them leaving the house through open doors in a shower of confetti, Leah in an off-the-shoulder lace gown with a bouquet of white flowers and Alex in a dark green suit, with guests lining both sides. Earlier, in a room with stone walls and tall windows, a woman reads to them as they sit holding hands at a table, Leah's veil and long train spread across the floor.

Afterwards the guests gather on the terrace below a stone balustrade, under white parasols, with the garden stepping down beyond them under an overcast sky.

In the evening Leah and Alex walk up a grassy bank beside the balustrade, Leah's veil trailing behind her and the stone house above them. In the next, they walk on the grass, Leah smiling with her bouquet and holding up her skirt, bright flower beds behind them. Then Alex takes her hand as she climbs the stone steps beside the balustrade towards the terrace and the ivy-covered house.

03 / October 2021 / Volkan and Katrina
Volkan and Katrina: a lawn in front of the house, a wood-panelled room and a dance floor with everyone watching
Volkan and Katrina married on 8 October 2021. The film further down this page opens on a still from their portraits: Volkan in a dark tuxedo and bow tie and Katrina in a veil and tiara, holding hands and looking at each other on the lawn, with the stone house behind them.
It was a grey afternoon, and the lawn and the ivy-covered stone still make a good backdrop. They smile together in front of the house, and later kiss with Katrina's bouquet of white flowers between them.

The film cuts between the portraits and the ceremony, which was indoors in a wood-panelled room with red curtains. Katrina comes down the aisle on the arm of a man in a dark suit, and at the front the two of them hold hands while she looks across at Volkan. The film does not say which of the venue's rooms it was, so ask the venue which of its ceremony spaces suits your numbers.

They kiss as the guests around them applaud, and walk back along the aisle hand in hand beneath white blossom branches, with their guests clapping on both sides. Out on the terrace, beside a stone balustrade, Katrina laughs as she holds up her dress.

At the top table, in front of a white drape, Katrina hides her face as Volkan laughs, and later the two of them cut the cake together, both smiling. In the evening Volkan dances in the middle of a circle of clapping guests.

Their first dance is in a wood-panelled room, with the guests standing in a ring around them, many holding up phones. Volkan holds Katrina close, and in the next picture they reach for each other at arm's length.

04 / Staying at South Lodge / From the venue's own description
A spa, a vineyard and overnight stays
The venue's wedding page lists overnight stays for couples and mentions a spa, and the hotel page describes the grounds and the spa with views of the South Downs. It does not give a bedroom count on the pages we read, so ask how many of your guests it can sleep, which rooms come with your date and what the arrangements are for the morning after.
For the film and photographs, ask which rooms you can use for getting ready and when they open, so we can plan the morning around where each of you is.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Ceremony place: The venue lists an outdoor Pavilion and three indoor ceremony rooms of different sizes. Volkan and Katrina and Leah and Alex all married indoors. Ask which space suits your guest numbers and whether it can be changed if the weather turns.
- Timing: The venue's wedding pages do not give finishing times, so ask for the timings of your date in writing. Tell us once you have agreed them and we will plan the portrait walk and the evening around the light.
- Garden portraits: The lawn in front of the house gave this couple their portraits. Ask the venue which parts of the grounds, including the terraces, are open to you and whether any are closed to guests.
- Rain: Their portraits were taken on a grey afternoon and still worked. Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a country house with a ceremony room, a lawn and a dance floor is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
