The venue centres around a magnificent 17th-century timber threshing barn, surrounded by open meadows, historic farm outbuildings and a walled courtyard garden that attracts garden enthusiasts and couples from across the globe.

We are Cam and Beth, the documentary photo and video team behind Bright Sight. Over the past eight years and four hundred weddings, we have captured multiple celebrations at Bury Court across the seasons. The Oast House bridal suite and walled garden vows

Morning preparations at Bury Court have a calm, grounded rhythm. The charming two-storey Oast House cottage provides a peaceful bridal sanctuary with original wooden floorboards, round brick walls and large windows offering gentle natural daylight for hair and makeup. Meanwhile, groom preparations can unfold comfortably in the nearby courtyard cottages.

For ceremonies, couples can choose between outdoor vows in the walled garden or an indoor ceremony beneath the soaring oak rafters of the barn. Tom and Sarah held their ceremony outdoors on a warm July afternoon. Guests sat surrounded by purple salvia, ornamental grasses and climbing roses while acoustic guitar melodies drifted through the summer air.

One of the most defining features of The Barn at Bury Court is its world-famous walled garden, designed by legendary Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf (acclaimed for New York's High Line and Hauser & Wirth Somerset). Oudolf's pioneering naturalistic planting philosophy blends architectural perennials, echinacea, ornamental grasses and textural seed heads.

Following the ceremony, the courtyard garden becomes a lively social hub for champagne, canapes and congratulations. Tom and Sarah walked through a joyful shower of confetti along the stone courtyard path before mingling with their guests.

As evening approaches, guests step from the courtyard into the dramatic interior of the 17th-century barn. With its towering vaulted ceiling, massive oak pillars, and warm festoon lighting, the barn creates an immediate sense of occasion while retaining rustic intimacy.

Long banquet tables or round setups both work harmoniously in the space. The natural acoustics make speeches carry easily, while the polished wooden floor is ready for an energetic evening party as the band or DJ kicks off.

When twilight arrives, the barn transforms into a warm, glowing celebration. The festoon bulbs reflect off ancient oak timber while family and friends gather on the dance floor.

Just before sunset, we recommend taking a brief ten-minute stroll outside the barn perimeter. The surrounding agricultural fields and wildflower borders look magical in the low evening sun, casting a soft golden warmth across the landscape.

Here are essential logistical details to keep in mind when organising your celebration at Bury Court:

1. Travel and transport: Bury Court is situated just off the A31 between Farnham and Alton. Bentley railway station is less than two miles away with direct South Western Railway services into London Waterloo, making it very accessible for guests travelling from London and the South East.
2. Local accommodation: While the Oast House and courtyard cottages accommodate the wedding party, nearby Farnham and Alton offer ample boutique hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts for travelling guests.
3. Lighting inside the barn: Because dark oak timbers absorb light, rely on warm uplighting, festoon strings and candles on the tables. We use specialized directional flash bounces that preserve the cozy amber warmth without harsh shadows.
4. Seasonal garden changes: The Piet Oudolf gardens evolve dramatically through the seasons. Early summer features lush greens and purple alliums; mid-to-late summer brings bright echinacea and yellow rudbeckia; autumn showcases golden prairie grasses and sculptural seed heads.
