A woodland venue with lodges among the trees
The Woodlands at Hothorpe is part of Hothorpe Hall at Theddingworth (LE17 6QX), on the border of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The venue describes it as an exclusive-use wedding venue set among trees, a forest village of lodges and studios with views of rolling countryside.
We have photographed and filmed two weddings here: Emma and Tom on 8 September 2023 and Amee and Sean on 7 August 2026. We also filmed Katie and James's wedding at Hothorpe Hall on 20 August 2021. The first two are in this guide with photographs.

01 / September 2023 / Emma and Tom
Emma and Tom: pampas grass, lodges and a dip on the dance floor
Emma and Tom married on 8 September 2023. The photograph at the top of this page is Tom spinning Emma beneath tall trees with her dress flying out around her. The wedding party gathers in the same trees, Emma with four bridesmaids in rust and peach dresses and timber lodges behind them, and Emma and Tom smile in front of a timber pavilion dressed with pampas grass.

They walk arm in arm past a timber lodge, then arrive at the reception with their fists in the air while guests cheer.

Later Tom dips Emma on the dance floor while a guitarist plays and guests dance behind them. A portrait walk in the golden light at the edge of a field finishes the day.

02 / August 2026 / Amee and Sean
Amee and Sean: a woodland aisle and a field of birch trees
Amee and Sean married on 7 August 2026. The morning starts at a red-brick building with black timber framing, where Amee raises a glass with her bridesmaids in matching green pyjamas, and an older woman in a fascinator helps fasten the back of her lace dress beside a window.

The ceremony is in the woods. Amee walks up a woodland aisle on the arm of an older man towards a white wooden arch, with guests on benches either side and fairy lights overhead, and she and Sean kiss in the same aisle as their guests look on.

Afterwards they stand close together in a sunlit field beside a tall birch tree.

03 / The spaces / From the venue's own pages
The Glade, the Hideaway and the Tipi
The venue names The Glade as the central area of the celebration, The Hideaway as a secluded woodland setting for outdoor ceremonies under an oak arbor, The Tipi as an evening space with a fire pit and a Courtyard Kitchen and Bar for dining and mingling outside.
The venue's page does not give separate ceremony or reception capacities or a ceremony licence, so ask for them in writing when you enquire.
04 / Staying at The Woodlands / From the venue's own pages
Lodges, studios and a treehouse
The venue lists The Treehouse, an elevated overnight suite, Family Lodges with a king-size double bedroom, The Studio with two bedrooms and walk-in shower en suites, and The Lodge, with bedrooms around The Glade, each with a king bed and en suite. It says there is space for up to 46 guests to stay. Getting ready in a lodge means a short walk through the trees to your ceremony, so ask which rooms come with your booking.
05 / August 2021 / Katie and James
Katie and James on film
Katie and James married at Hothorpe Hall on 20 August 2021, and we filmed their day. There are no photographs from it here, but you can watch their highlight film further down this page.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Where the ceremony is: The Hideaway or elsewhere in the woods. Tell us your plan so we can arrange the morning around it.
- Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and ask who makes the call on an outdoor ceremony.
- Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Trees give good shade and a sheltered spot is worth agreeing in advance.
- Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The trees, the pavilion, the lodges and the open fields give you very different backdrops.
- The evening: The Tipi and its fire pit are the evening space the venue names. Our evening coverage follows your booked hours.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a woodland aisle, a timber pavilion and a dance floor under the trees are familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
