A Grade I manor house and a Tithe Barn near Reading

Ufton Court is at Ufton Nervet near Reading in Berkshire (RG7 4HD). The venue's wedding website describes a Grade I listed manor house in 16 acres on the Berkshire and Hampshire border, with a restored 16th-century timber-framed Tithe Barn, and says the extensive grounds are exclusively yours on your day. It also lists an in-house wedding coordinator and no corkage fee.

We filmed Tori and Ed's wedding here on 29 May 2025, so this page is different from our photograph-led venue pages: every picture on it is a still taken from their wedding film, and the highlight film plays at the top of the page. Our Berkshire guide shows the same county through other weddings, and here we stay with the house and the couple. What we say about the spaces comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the pictures comes from looking at them.

For current venue details, explore Ufton Court. This wedding was at the end of May, so ask the venue how the house, the gardens and the barn look in other seasons.

01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description

Three indoor and three outdoor places for a ceremony

The venue says it is licensed for civil ceremonies indoors and outdoors, and that there are three indoor and three outdoor locations to choose from, with four spaces for a drinks reception. Most ceremonies take place in the Tithe Barn, which it lists for anything from an intimate 15 guests up to 150, and which can be styled for the wedding breakfast with oak beams, ivy and fairy lights.

Archers Hall, opposite the barn in the barn courtyard, is listed for up to 80 guests, and the Long Room in the Manor House for up to 50. The page names two of the outdoor spaces: the Courtyard, for up to 110 guests, and the Sunken Garden, for up to 150 with extra chair hire. Outdoor ceremonies are weather permitting, with the Tithe Barn as the back-up. The page does not give seated or evening numbers, so ask for both in writing.

Tori and Ed: a garden ceremony in front of a barn, confetti and a first dance under the beams

Tori and Ed married on 29 May 2025. The film at the top of this page opens on a still from their portraits: Tori in a long veil and Ed in a black velvet jacket and bow tie, walking hand in hand across the lawn beside the pale walls of the house.

The ceremony was outdoors, in a clipped box garden in front of a big red-tiled timber barn. Wooden chairs with white drapes face the open barn doors, a harp stands beside them, and guests turn to watch. Tori comes down the path on the arm of a man in a green velvet jacket, laughing, between box hedges and hanging lanterns. The film does not say which of the venue's outdoor spaces it was, so ask the venue which suits your numbers.

A bride carrying a white bouquet walks on the arm of a man in a green velvet jacket between box hedges and hanging lanterns, both smiling

At the front, Ed and Tori kiss in front of a tall arch of white flowers and greenery. Afterwards guests line up outside the barn and throw confetti as the two of them walk out hand in hand, and they kiss again in a cloud of petals.

The grounds gave them their portraits. At the edge of a field with long grass, Ed kisses the side of Tori's head while she smiles towards the camera. On the gravel drive, with the barn and the house soft behind them, Tori laughs into his shoulder, and later the two of them walk away from us, hand in hand, towards the house.

Back indoors, Tori raises her bouquet and Ed laughs as guests wave napkins to welcome them in. Later, in front of wooden barn-style doors and a green and white arrangement, Ed gives his speech with a microphone while Tori looks up at him from the top table.

For their first dance the guests stand around them beneath the oak beams and white paper lanterns, many with phones raised, while Ed and Tori hold each other close. The film closes outside again, with the two of them walking hand in hand along the gravel drive towards the house.

A preparation room, exclusive grounds and the rest to ask about

The venue lists a preparation room in the courtyard for you to get ready in, with access from 9am on the morning of the wedding. Its wedding website also lists an accommodation page among its suppliers, but it does not give a bedroom count on the pages we read, so ask whether guests can stay at the house and what it recommends nearby.

For the film and photographs, ask which rooms you can use for getting ready and when each of you can get in, so we can plan the morning around where each of you is.

Tori and Ed’s highlight film retells their May 2025 wedding at Ufton Court, from the first moments of the day to the evening, around the pictures above. Watch it to see and hear the house, the barn and the grounds in motion, then ask the venue which of its spaces suit your numbers.

Planning your film and photographs at Ufton Court

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Ceremony place: Tori and Ed married outdoors, in a garden in front of a barn. The venue lists three indoor and three outdoor ceremony places of different sizes. Ask which suits your guest numbers and when the call is made between outdoors and the barn if the weather turns.
  2. Timing: The venue's wedding pages do not give finishing times, so ask for the timings of your date in writing. Tell us once you have agreed them and we will plan the portrait walk and the evening around the light.
  3. Garden portraits: The lawn, the gravel drive and the edge of the field gave this couple their portraits. The venue says the grounds are exclusively yours; ask which parts are open to you and whether any are closed to guests.
  4. Rain: The venue says outdoor ceremonies are weather permitting, with the Tithe Barn as the back-up. Agree an indoor or sheltered plan for portraits with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
  5. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
  6. Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a manor house with a garden ceremony, a beamed room for the party and a long drive for the portraits is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
