A family-run farm venue in around 80 acres of Northamptonshire countryside

Wood Farm at Everdon is by the village of Everdon, near Daventry in Northamptonshire (NN11 3BH). The venue's own pages describe a family-run farm in around 80 acres of rolling countryside with a timber-framed barn that has a large glazed end wall, plus a terrace and a lawn for guests.

We photographed Tishy and Maddie's wedding here on 4 August 2022, and theirs is the day in this guide: dresses hanging beneath the glazed end of the barn before the ceremony, a confetti walk along a tree-lined path and a quiet kiss under the willows. Our Northamptonshire guide shows more weddings in the county.

For current venue details, explore Wood Farm at Everdon. This wedding was in August, so ask the venue how the barn and the grounds look in other seasons, which spaces are used for the ceremony and the meal, and what its current packages and capacities are.

01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description

A timber barn with a glazed end, a terrace and a lawn

The venue's pages describe a timber-framed barn with a large glazed end wall that lets daylight in, and a terrace and lawn alongside it, so guests can step out between the parts of the day. A gravel path lined with trees runs away from the barn and is used for confetti and portraits.

Capacities and prices change, so ask the venue for its current wedding information, which barn layout suits your numbers and how late music and dancing can run.

02 / August 2022 / Tishy and Maddie

Tishy and Maddie: a glazed barn, a confetti walk and a kiss under the willows

Tishy and Maddie married on 4 August 2022. Before the ceremony, their dresses hung from the beams beneath the glazed end of the barn, red against the dark timbers, with rows of chairs set out below. Both brides wore white, one in a lace dress with a V neck and a high collar and the other in a lace gown with a longer skirt, and one wore glasses with her hair in bright copper.

After the ceremony, family and friends threw handfuls of bright confetti along a tree-lined gravel path as the two of them walked through, laughing, hand in hand.

The dark timber frame of a barn rises to a glazed triangular end wall where two red dresses hang from a rail above rows of red chairs

Later, a short walk along the same path under the weeping willows gave them a quiet moment before the evening: they stood with their backs to us, kissing, the long skirt of one gown spread across the gravel and a rainbow-coloured scarf trailing from the other.

Questions to put to the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. The barn before the ceremony: The glazed end gave a bright, simple backdrop and the rows of chairs looked best before guests arrived. Ask when the barn is ready so we can photograph the room and the details before it fills.
  2. A confetti walk: The tree-lined path made a perfect confetti route. Ask what the venue allows for confetti, where guests can stand and who will clear it afterwards.
  3. The willows and the evening light: A short walk along the path before evening dancing caught soft light under the willows. Keep a short window free for portraits before the party starts.
  4. Terrace and lawn: The terrace and lawn give guests somewhere to step out between the parts of the day. Ask how they are used on your date and where drinks are served.
  5. Group photographs: We make as many as you wish, usually around 15, which take about 20 minutes. Choose a spot with room for everyone and a sheltered fallback, and ask someone who knows both families to gather people.
  6. Farm weather: A farm venue means open sky and a breeze. Agree an indoor fallback for the ceremony and portraits with the venue, and we will use the grounds between showers.
