A former farmhouse in a country park

Bryngarw House is at Brynmenyn, near Bridgend (CF32 8UU). The venue says it was once a 15th-century farmhouse that has kept its historic charm, with grounds cared for by the Awen Cultural Trust in Bryngarw Country Park, which has woodland trails, boardwalks, wildflower meadows and Japanese-style planting and features.

We have worked on two weddings here: Alexandra and Andrew on 30 September 2022, on film, and Angharad and Josh on 11 October 2024, photographed and filmed. The Traherne Suite, the marquee and the country park

The venue says the Traherne Suite, with floor-to-ceiling windows and garden views, is its licensed ceremony room for up to 100 guests. The wedding breakfast is served in a marquee with bespoke menus from the in-house chefs, and the evening reception holds up to 250. There are two bars, and welcome drinks and canapes can be enjoyed on the patio overlooking the lawn, in the private garden beside the Traherne Suite or in the conservatory.

In Angharad and Josh's photographs the park gives a gravel woodland path in autumn leaves, a wooden bridge with carved posts, and an open oriental-style timber pavilion with a tiled roof where the two of them can sit, with the woods all round.

Angharad and Josh: vows by the window, a woodland path and a pavilion kiss

Angharad and Josh married at Bryngarw on 11 October 2024. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: Angharad in a white gown and Josh in a grey suit and lilac tie, hand in hand on a wooden bridge with a tile-roofed pavilion and autumn trees behind them.

A quiet moment in a bright room has Angharad, in a white jacket, touching her nose to a baby's. At the ceremony the two of them face each other for their vows in front of tall white windows framed by an arch of white flowers, a row of pink and purple blooms in front of them.

Afterwards they walk hand in hand along a gravel woodland path scattered with autumn leaves, Angharad with a bouquet of purple and white flowers, and in another frame they are small figures far down the path, the dress trailing behind her.

In the open timber pavilion the two of them sit together, seen from a distance through its posts, and then closer, in a window opening, kissing with the bouquet in Angharad's lap.

Eighteen rooms and a honeymoon suite

The venue says it has 18 rooms for overnight guests, a complimentary honeymoon suite and breakfast in the conservatory the next morning. Ask which rooms come with your booking.

For photographs, a room on site keeps the morning calm, with the flowers and the dress close to the ceremony. Tell us your rooms and timings and we will plan the day around them.

Planning your photographs at Bryngarw House

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

1. Ceremony: The Traherne Suite, with its garden views. Tell us your timings so we can plan the morning around it.
2. The park: The bridge, the woodland path and the pavilion are all close by. Autumn weddings have short daylight, so we plan portraits soon after the ceremony and check sunset and light times for your date in advance.
3. Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
4. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
5. Portraits: We usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The bridge, the woodland path and the pavilion give you very different backdrops.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a former farmhouse with a country park, a marquee and a pavilion is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
