01 / June 2025 / Laura and Jack

Laura and Jack: a hanging garland, open fields and a lawn full of cheering

Laura and Jack married on 26 June 2025. The photograph at the top of this page is the two of them kissing inside the barn, holding hands, with guests smiling behind them and a hanging floral installation overhead. The morning starts quietly in a pale room, where one man adjusts another's cuff and a man in a white shirt does up a button beside a suit in its garment bag.

Outside the stone barn, guests gather on the timber-railed terrace and steps, with the lawn and a rose bush in front. Inside, Laura and Jack kiss beneath a garland of greenery and flowers, with a long table laid with candles and glasses beside them.

Later the whole wedding party gathers on the lawn in front of the long barn, arms raised and cheering under a pale blue sky. It is a good example of how much open space the front of the building gives you.

02 / The spaces / From the venue's own page

The barn, the Oak Pavilion and the woodland glade

The venue's page says ceremonies in the main barn take place under a hand-forged greenery wheel beside a stone fireplace. It also names the Oak Pavilion, an outdoor ceremony option in the gardens set in woodland, and a woodland glade that is licensed for civil ceremonies. Couples can also hold a ceremony at a local church and celebrate at the barn.

The venue lists room for 150 people for the ceremony and dining and 200 in total with evening guests, and says it is licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 150 people and has a late licence until 1am. It says the barn turns into a dance floor after dinner, with terrace, fire pits and surrounding fields outside. The venue also says it cooks in-house and does not allow outside caterers, so ask when you enquire.

03 / Staying nearby / From the venue's own page

Rooms close to the barn

The venue's page does not list bedrooms at the barn itself. It points couples to nearby places to stay, naming The Stump, a roadside inn with 10 rooms and a barn for private gatherings, and The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns, a boutique hotel with 15 rooms. The venue also has an accommodation guide on its own site, so ask them which options suit your guest list.

Planning your photographs at Cripps Barn

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Where the ceremony is: in the main barn, in the Oak Pavilion, in the woodland glade or at a local church. Tell us the plan and the times so we can arrange the morning around them.
  2. Group photographs: the lawn in front of the barn is a roomy place for them. We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask someone who knows everyone to round people up.
  3. Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The fields, the row of young trees and the terrace give you very different backdrops within a short walk.
  4. Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. The main barn is the covered space the venue lists for ceremony, dining and dancing.
  5. Evening: the venue has a late licence until 1am. Tell us if you would like anything in the evening photographed or filmed and we will agree the plan with you.
