Nestled in the rolling West Northamptonshire countryside near Weedon and Daventry, Dodford Manor is an award-winning, exclusive-use country house barn venue surrounded by two hundred acres of private estate and sheep-grazed pasture. The venue centres around a collection of beautifully restored Grade II listed ironstone and oak barns, providing a warm, characterful backdrop for wedding celebrations.

We are Cam and Beth, the documentary photo and video team behind Bright Sight. Over the past eight years and four hundred weddings, we have captured wonderful celebrations at Dodford Manor across different seasons. The Dairy dressing room and Mortain Barn vows

Morning preparations at Dodford Manor begin in The Dairy, a private and stylish dressing room designed specifically for bridal preparation. With large mirrors, soft seating, and generous natural daylight pouring through the windows, it creates a calm and relaxed environment for hair, makeup, and pre-ceremony portraits.

Ceremonies take place inside the magnificent 17th-century Mortain Barn. With its soaring oak rafters, warm honey-coloured ironstone walls, and limestone flooring, the Mortain Barn provides an atmosphere of timeless romance. Natural light filters in through the high windows, illuminating the aisle while retaining a cozy, candlelit intimacy.

Courtyard Drinks & Canapes

Sunlit courtyard celebrations and sheep paddock views

Immediately following the ceremony, guests step outside into the sheltered ironstone courtyard. Surrounded by historic stone outbuildings and panoramic countryside views, the courtyard is the natural social hub for your drinks reception.

Charlie and Faye walked through a joyful shower of confetti as their guests cheered in the sunshine. During the reception, guests enjoyed champagne and canapes while taking in the views of sheep grazing peacefully in the adjacent paddocks.

The Mortain Barn and glass-walled Oak Barn

One of Dodford Manor's greatest architectural strengths is the interplay between its two principal barns:

• The Mortain Barn: Dating back to the 1600s, this barn features historic exposed ironstone walls, flagstone floors, and dramatic vaulted timber beams. It serves as the ceremony setting and transforms in the evening into a vibrant party space.
• The Oak Barn: Purpose-built for wedding breakfasts, the Oak Barn combines traditional green oak framing with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that look out across the valley. This floods your dining room and speeches with bright, natural daylight.

Sunset & Golden Hour

As late afternoon approaches, the low sun casts a golden glow across the rolling fields and sheep paddocks surrounding the estate. We recommend slipping away for ten to fifteen minutes between your meal and evening party to capture unscripted couple portraits in the evening light.

3. Daylight dining: Because the Oak Barn features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, you will have plenty of natural daylight for your wedding breakfast and speeches, even in the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn.
4. Evening barn party: When darkness falls, the Mortain Barn becomes an atmospheric dance floor. We use bounced directional flash techniques that illuminate the dance floor and ancient oak beams while preserving the warm, celebratory mood.
