A hotel in 150 acres of Warwickshire countryside

Draycote Hotel is on London Road in Rugby, Warwickshire (CV23 9LF). The venue says it sits within 150 acres of peaceful countryside, with woodland, ponds and landscaped gardens, an 18-hole golf course, and Draycote Water nearby. It lists 49 bedrooms.

We photographed two weddings here: Charlotte and Tom on 8 October 2022 and Alison and Kieran on 18 July 2025. Both are in this guide. In July the grounds are green and open, and in October the garden portraits and the confetti happen in softer light.

01 / July 2025 / Alison and Kieran

Alison and Kieran: a window, a lawn and long grass

Alison and Kieran married on 18 July 2025. The photograph at the top of this page is the two of them beside tall grasses in the grounds, close and laughing. Earlier in the day, Alison looks across a room towards a man in a blue three-piece suit who smiles back at her beside a large window, and she crosses the lawn with a young boy in a navy suit.

Later the two of them walk together beneath tall trees, a quiet few minutes away from the guests in the countryside setting the venue describes.

The Phoenix Suite, the pergola and the front lawn

The venue's wedding page names the Phoenix Suite as its largest room, used for ceremonies and receptions, the Dunsmore Suite as a private space for the bridal party that can also be the bridal preparation suite for up to 20 guests, and The Papaveri as a bright room for smaller gatherings. There is also a Serenity Room for the newly married couple.

Outdoor ceremonies take place on the front lawn with the pergola, and the venue says they are licensed. It adds that outdoor ceremonies need extra chair covers and sashes, and that the registrar decides whether to go ahead in bad weather. The venue says its civil ceremony is licensed for up to 160 guests, with the wedding breakfast also for up to 160. It gives different figures for evening guests in different places, so confirm the number in writing.

03 / October 2022 / Charlotte and Tom

Charlotte and Tom in October

Charlotte and Tom married on 8 October 2022. In one photograph they walk through a shower of confetti with their guests gathered close around them, and in another Tom kisses Charlotte on the cheek during a portrait in the garden.

Forty-nine bedrooms and bridal suites

The venue lists 49 bedrooms, including double, twin and family rooms, and mentions bridal suites and rooms for wedding guests. A room in the hotel means getting ready beside the place you will marry, so ask which rooms come with your booking and when you can have them.

Planning your photographs at Draycote Hotel

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Indoors or on the lawn: the Phoenix Suite or the front lawn with the pergola. Tell us your plan so we can arrange the morning around it.
  2. Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and ask who makes the call if you choose the lawn.
  3. Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup.
  4. Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The lawn, the trees and the long grass give you very different backdrops.
  5. The evening: our evening coverage follows your booked hours. Ask the venue for the current evening guest numbers.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a hotel with a front lawn, a pergola and a good deal of open countryside is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
