This page is about weddings at Holesfoot in the Eden Valley, near Penrith in Cumbria, where we filmed a wedding in May 2025. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.
A private estate in the Eden Valley
Holesfoot is a wedding venue at Maulds Meaburn in the Eden Valley, near Penrith in Cumbria (CA10 3HX). The venue says it sits in 20 acres of private gardens, woodland and meadow between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, that the nearest village, Maulds Meaburn, is a mile away, and that couples have exclusive use of the estate.
We filmed Lauren and Callum's wedding here on 24 May 2025. Their booking was for film, so the photographs on this page are stills from their highlight film, not photographs from the day. Our Lake District guide shows Holesfoot beside other Cumbrian venues, and here we stay with the venue itself. What we say about the buildings and grounds comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the images comes from watching the film.
For current venue details, explore Holesfoot. We have filmed one wedding here, in May, so ask the venue how the gardens, pond and woodland look in other seasons.
01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description
A manor house, a walled garden and a sandstone barn
The venue lists five licensed places for a ceremony: the Barn, the Italian Garden Terrace, the Walled Garden Canopy, the Pond Jetty and the Long Room. It also mentions weddings in the bluebell woodland. It describes the Italian Garden Terrace as a ceremony favourite, with an aisle through arches of roses, sweet peas and honeysuckle, bordered by water lilies, with stone statues on the walls and wisteria climbing the pillars.
The Barn has rustic sandstone walls, wide oak floorboards and wrought iron chandeliers, with high ceilings and windows, a large glass entrance porch and a stained-glass window letting in natural light. The venue says the barn ceiling is covered with thousands of fibre optic lights that make a starry night sky for the first dance.
For smaller parties the venue suggests the Long Room, with carved wooden panelling, an oak table and floor to ceiling windows. The venue's accommodation page says the room can host small ceremonies and wedding breakfasts of up to 32 people. The manor house itself is a Grade II* listed Georgian and Victorian building, and the venue also offers an intimate manor house wedding with dining for 30 guests plus 12 in the adjoining room, over a two night stay.
Holesfoot says it specialises in three day wedding weekends and two night midweek packages, and is open to one day events on certain dates. The website gives no prices or capacity figures for the barn, so ask the venue for its brochure and current availability.
02 / May 2025 / Lauren and Callum
Lauren and Callum: a pond, a walled garden and a stone barn
Lauren and Callum married at Holesfoot on 24 May 2025. The image at the top of this page is a still from their highlight film: Callum kisses the top of Lauren's head as they walk through the meadow beside the pond, her veil lifting behind her and a bouquet of cream and blush flowers hanging from his hand. Every image on this page is a still from that film.
The highlight starts in the morning, with shoes and a stationery card on a leather chair, hair and make-up in a bright room by a tall window, and Lauren in her gown standing by the window with her bouquet. The portraits then run through the grounds. By the water, Callum rests his lips on Lauren's forehead, with trees and a soft grey sky blurred behind them.

Below the pale front of the manor house, on a flight of stone steps with clipped hedges either side, Callum takes Lauren's hand as she turns in a lace gown with an open back.

In a corner of the garden the two kiss against green leaves and an old stone wall, Lauren's bouquet of cream and peach roses held between them and soft tulle tied at her shoulder.

The film also shows the ceremony taking place outdoors among roses and wisteria, with confetti afterwards. From above, a walled garden is laid out with wooden benches in two curving rows between narrow planted beds, inside old stone walls.

Inside the stone barn the long tables are laid for the wedding breakfast, with white fabric hanging from the roof beams, candle chandeliers, tall candles on the tables and narrow windows in the old walls. In the film the speeches happen in this room, and the first dance takes place with guests gathered all around.

Later, as the light fades, Lauren and Callum cut a tall white cake decorated with sugar flowers, in front of a black timber door and a climbing plant full of pale roses.

03 / Staying at Holesfoot / From the venue's own description
Up to 60 guests on the estate
The venue says up to 60 guests can stay on site. Holesfoot House sleeps 22 in nine bedrooms with seven and a half bathrooms, and there are also the Bakehouse Annex, the Coach House (sleeps six), the Cottage (sleeps eight) and five bell tents, each with two king size beds, in the woodland. The venue's own weddings page suggests spending the day before the wedding on the estate, with a bridal suite, a hot tub and dinner in the Long Room.
The venue allows your own dogs in the barn and grounds on a lead, because it has resident chickens. Dogs can stay in the Bakehouse, the Cottage and the Coach House, in the kitchen areas only, but not in the manor house or the bell tents.

Lauren and Callum at Holesfoot: their May 2025 highlight
Lauren and Callum’s highlight film retells their May 2025 wedding at Holesfoot, from the first moments of the day to the evening, around the photographs above. Watch it to see and hear the walled garden, the meadow and the barn in motion, then ask the venue which of its spaces suit your numbers.

Planning your photographs at Holesfoot
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Timing: The venue builds its weddings around a weekend or a midweek stay with exclusive use, so there is room to spread the days out. Tell us your timings once you have agreed them with the venue and we will plan the portrait walk around the light.
- Light and season: Lauren and Callum married in May, and their film shows soft grey light over green meadow, pond and walled garden. If you are marrying in another season, ask the venue what the gardens and woodland look like then. We check sunset and light times for your date in advance and agree the plan with you before the day.
- Rain: The venue describes the Italian Garden Terrace as weather dependent, so agree an indoor or sheltered option, such as the barn or the Long Room, when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes. The venue mentions a bridal suite, so ask which rooms you can use and when.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a manor house, a walled garden and a stone barn is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
