An Edwardian manor house on the Wirral

Inglewood Manor is at Badgers Rake Lane, Ledsham, South Wirral, Cheshire (CH66 9PF). The venue describes a Grade II listed Edwardian manor house built in 1915 and largely unchanged since, set in 38 acres of grounds and gardens, and offered for exclusive use with one wedding per day.

01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description

An oak panelled suite, a terrace and a walled garden

The venue names several wedding spaces. The Executive Suite is the oak panelled heart of the house, with carvings, two ornate fireplaces and windows over the lawns, and it opens onto a terrace. The Ledsham Suite is the house's original morning room, with mullioned windows and a large bay window. The Burton Suite has its own entrance and French doors onto the walled garden. Civil ceremonies can also be held on the balustraded Terrace, with chairs leading onto the portico, or in the gardens, weather permitting.

The venue says guest numbers run from 10 to 150, and that it is licensed for indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies. The figures given for each room are not the same from page to page on the website, so ask the venue for the current capacity of each room in writing.

The grounds include wisteria covered walkways, lawns, ponds and pavilions. The venue says the wisteria is in full bloom from mid-May. Exclusive use, it says, covers the manor and the immediate formal gardens, and in its bespoke package runs from midday until midnight.

Gabi and Mikey: a doorway, a pergola and the last of the light

Gabi and Mikey married at Inglewood Manor on 16 April 2022. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: Gabi in a satin ball gown with a long veil and Mikey in a navy suit, burgundy tie and tweed waistcoat, smiling at each other as they walk beneath a timber pergola strung with fairy lights, its old wisteria stems twisted and bare in April.

Earlier in the day, in black and white, a man in a dark suit pins a buttonhole onto Mikey in the arched stone doorway of the house, framed by leaded windows and a dark wooden door.

As the day ends, Gabi and Mikey kiss outdoors with their arms around each other, the sky pale pink and the low sun glowing as soft orange light in the trees behind them.

The last photograph is in black and white. Through the same kind of arched doorway, with leaded windows above, Mikey dips Gabi as her dress swirls, with wall lights glowing behind them in the room.

Twenty-nine bedrooms in the house

The venue has 29 en-suite bedrooms in the manor house itself, and says exclusive use gives you access to all of them, so that the wedding can become a two-day celebration for family and friends. Its packages list a complimentary bedroom the night before and the honeymoon suite on the wedding night.

For photographs, ask which rooms you can use for getting ready and when they open, so we can plan the morning around where each of you is.

Planning your photographs at Inglewood Manor

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

1. Timing: In its bespoke package the venue gives you the manor and formal gardens from midday until midnight. Tell us your timings once you have agreed them with the venue and we will plan the portrait walk around them.
2. Season and light: Our wedding here was in April, with bare wisteria on the pergola and soft light at the end of the day. The venue says the wisteria blooms from mid-May and that the grounds turn gold and copper in autumn, so ask what to expect on your date.
3. Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, especially if you want the Terrace or the gardens for your ceremony, which the venue says depends on the weather. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
4. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up. The terrace and lawns are the natural places to ask the venue about.
5. Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a manor house with an oak panelled suite, a terrace and a walled garden is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
