Emma and Harlie: a stone window sill, a barn ceremony and a long driveway

Emma and Harlie married on 7 September 2025. The photograph at the top of this page is the two of them laughing on the lawn in front of a honey-coloured stone house, Emma's long veil trailing behind her. The day begins with a pair of ivory shoes and a bouquet of cream roses on a deep stone window sill.

In a bright room Emma has her hair styled in white pyjamas, a woman sits quietly at a round table with a glass of champagne, and the bridesmaids in champagne-coloured dresses gather round Emma in a hug.

Planning your photographs at Lapstone Barn

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Ceremony time: the venue says 2pm is the most common start. Tell us your time and where the ceremony will be so we can arrange the morning around it.
  2. Getting ready: if you are staying in the cottage, farmhouse or Stables, ask when each is yours on the morning, since that is where the first photographs happen.
  3. Group photographs: the courtyard and the lawns give you room. We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask someone who knows everyone to round people up.
  4. Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The driveway, the lawn and the open fields give you several backdrops close to the barn. In September, we check sunset and light times for your date in advance and agree the plan with you.
  5. Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. The barn is the covered space the venue lists for the ceremony and dining.
