A country house with six acres of gardens
Pendrell Hall is at Codsall Wood in Staffordshire (WV8 1QP). The venue describes a country house with six acres of private estate, formal lawns, walled gardens and woodland walks, with light, airy interiors that keep the character of the house. It says it only holds weddings, and that you have the venue to yourselves on the day.
We photographed and filmed Farha and Alex's wedding here on 22 November 2024. This page follows their day in photographs. Our Staffordshire guide shows Pendrell Hall beside other venues in the county, and here we stay with the venue itself. What we say about the house comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.
For current venue details, explore Pendrell Hall. Farha and Alex married in November, so ask the venue how the gardens and the outdoor ceremony option work in other seasons.

Three ceremony spaces, two dressing rooms and a fountain
The venue offers three licensed ceremony locations. The Morning Room has bay windows, a polished oak floor and an Arts and Crafts oak inglenook, and seats up to 110. The Ballroom has stained-glass skylights and seats up to 170, and it is also where the wedding breakfast and the evening party take place. Outdoors, a vintage-style bandstand on the formal lawn is licensed for ceremonies for up to 170 guests.
The venue says outdoor ceremonies run from the beginning of May to the end of September, depending on the weather on the day and the registrar's agreement, with the Morning Room or the Ballroom as the wet weather plan. Drinks are served in the oak-panelled entrance hall, the drawing rooms and the Old Library Bar, or outside on the terrace overlooking the formal lawns.
There are two dressing rooms, both open from 10.30am, one of them the Love is Enough suite with a salon-style mirrored wall and natural light, the other the Pimpernel Suite for the groom, with an original fireplace. The venue also describes a water fountain on its private driveway, which it recommends for group photographs and confetti, and says music stops at midnight. You can supply all your own daytime drinks with no corkage.
02 / November 2024 / Farha and Alex
Farha and Alex: a dress in the window, a dachshund and a November lawn
Farha and Alex married at Pendrell Hall on 22 November 2024. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: Alex leans in with his cheek against Farha's as she closes her eyes and rests a hand on his chest, with a red rose on his jacket and the red-brick house soft behind them, over a lawn with a little snow still on it.
The morning starts quietly. Farha's lace dress hangs from a sash window, lit from behind, with dark trees outside. In the next photograph she stands in a round bay of tall windows beside a freestanding bath, laughing with a member of her wedding party in a grey dress, a bouquet of pink, white and dark flowers in her hands.

Outside, the couple laugh as they hold a small dachshund between them in front of a tiered stone fountain, the low sun sparkling through the water behind. Then Alex is hoisted off his feet by four of his guests, one of them an older man, everyone laughing, on a wet stone terrace with the snowy parkland behind.

The last photograph is in black and white. Alex stands side-on with his chin raised and Farha rests her head against his back, her arms around him, as the low sun flares behind them and a corner of the house shows on the right.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Timing: Both dressing rooms open at 10.30am and the venue says music stops at midnight, so the day runs inside a defined window. The venue says it generally allows an hour and a half for the drinks reception after the ceremony, which is a natural time for portraits. Tell us your timings once you have agreed them with the venue and we will plan the portrait walk around the light.
- Light and season: Farha and Alex married in late November, and their portraits were taken on the lawns in low sun with snow still on the ground. We check sunset and light times for your date in advance and agree the plan with you before the day.
- Rain: The venue says outdoor ceremonies run from May to September and that the Morning Room or the Ballroom is the back-up. Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Confetti: The venue says it allows biodegradable confetti in specific areas, and that it cannot be thrown outside if there is a risk of overnight frost, in which case it can be thrown inside the ceremony room. Ask your event manager where it is allowed.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. The venue suggests its fountain on the driveway as a backdrop for group photographs; ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a country house with gardens, a ballroom and a bandstand on the lawn is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
