A Georgian manor with a church at the bottom of the garden
Pennard House is a Georgian manor house in the rolling hills of Somerset. Its wedding page describes ceremonies in one of its indoor ceremony rooms, outside in the garden, or in the village church, which it says sits quite literally at the bottom of the garden, and golden cocktail hours in the garden followed by late nights in the Coach House.
We photographed Matthew and Rhianne's wedding here on 11 July 2022, a photography booking. This page follows it in photographs. Our Somerset guide shows the house beside other venues in the county, and here we stay with the venue itself. What we say about the house comes from its own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.
For current venue details, explore Pennard House. Ask the venue which ceremony space and which bedrooms come with your booking.
01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description
Ceremony rooms, a garden pavilion and an 18th-century Coach House
The venue lists an indoor ceremony room for up to 95 seated guests, a Garden Pavilion for civil ceremonies, a Conservatory opened in 2025 with views over the gardens, and the Napier Room in the house, which is licensed for civil ceremonies. Outdoors, 120 guests can be seated, a capacity it shares with the village church, which also holds 120.
The Coach House is an 18th-century stone building. Upstairs it seats between 60 and 120 for the wedding breakfast, and it holds up to 180 in the evening. Downstairs there is a dance floor, a staffed bar and space for live music. The house has 13 bedrooms, couples have exclusive use of it, and the venue says couples generally stay for two nights.

Matthew and Rhianne: stone steps, woodland and a lane between the hedges
Matthew and Rhianne married at Pennard House on 11 July 2022. The photograph at the top of this page is from their evening portraits: the two of them kissing under the leaves, the low sun flaring through the branches behind them.
Earlier they walk down a flight of stone steps towards the camera, smiling, Matthew in a grey suit and Rhianne holding her bouquet, a white umbrella and an ivy-covered house behind them.

In the woodland the couple walk hand in hand, Matthew in a waistcoat with a glass in his hand and Rhianne laughing with a bouquet of flowers, and stop for a full-length portrait beside the trunk of a huge tree, her full skirt spread across the leaves.

On the lane the hedges rise on both sides as the couple stand together in the middle of the road, and on a wooden bench they sit close and kiss, looking out across the grass towards a distant white building.

At the wedding breakfast, Matthew wipes his eye with his hand during the speeches, a glass and a bottle on the table in front of him. Later, in black and white, the two of them laugh and dance with hands joined in a room hung with string lights.

Planning your photographs at Pennard House
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Where the ceremony happens: With a ceremony room, a Garden Pavilion, a Conservatory and the church to choose from, decide with the venue which suits your numbers and the season, and tell us so we can arrange the morning around it.
- Confetti: The venue says it allows only biodegradable confetti or rose petals, and only outdoors, so choose yours with that in mind.
- Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. The terrace and gardens give you room. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Portraits: We usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The woodland, the lane and the lawns give very different backdrops within a short walk of the house.
- Getting ready: The house has 13 bedrooms and the venue says most couples stay the night before. With you and your partner in different rooms we move between you together, splitting our time as a team, and groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a Georgian manor with gardens, woodland and a Coach House is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
