In short: Bright Sight is Cam and Beth, a photo and video duo based near Cardiff. This page is about a wedding celebrated at Silver Bay at Rhoscolyn on Anglesey, where we photographed and filmed Maggie and Darren in March 2020. Standard full-day packages start at £2,099 for photography, £2,099 for videography or £3,799 for both, with travel included and a £120 deposit to secure your date.

A private owners' park behind the dunes

Silver Bay Holiday Park is at Rhoscolyn, Pentre Gwyddel, on the south coast of Anglesey (LL65 2RZ). The venue's own website describes a private owners' park, hidden behind dunes and reached by winding lanes, with a choice of luxury lodges and modern caravans, owned and run by the Bulmer family for over 30 years.

We photographed and filmed Maggie and Darren's wedding on 7 March 2020. Their day is told in photographs on this page, and the highlight film plays further down. The ceremony was at a church nearby, with the celebration at Silver Bay, in the park with the Deck House restaurant. The venue's website is a holiday home ownership site: it does not advertise weddings, wedding hire, capacities or ceremony licences, so we have not stated any here. If you are wondering whether Silver Bay could host your wedding, ask the venue directly. Our Nant Gwrtheyrn guide and Trevor Hall guide show other venues in North Wales, and here we stay with this one stretch of coast. What we say about the park comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the images comes from looking at them.

For current venue details, explore Silver Bay. The wedding was in early March, so ask the venue how the park and the beach look at other times of year.

01 / The park / From the venue's own description

Lodges, a pool, a restaurant and a private path to the beach

The venue says Silver Bay is a private community of owners: every lodge and caravan is privately owned, and it says there are no lettings, no short stays and no party weekends. It also says commercial subletting is not permitted, although owners can share their home with close family and friends. Its website offers no wedding service, so everything below describes the park as its owners use it.

On the park the venue lists a 15.5m heated indoor pool with a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, a gym, a spa with four treatment rooms, play areas, a sports field and a boat park. The Deck House is its bar and restaurant, which it describes as laid-back, with seasonal menus and decking for sunny days.

A private path leads from the park to Silver Bay beach, known locally as Traeth Llydan, which the venue says has a Green Coast Award, golden sand and calm water, and is private access for owners. It adds that the beach has no public toilets or cafe, with a small summer kiosk open only when the weather allows. The Anglesey Coastal Path runs past the park, and the venue names the White Eagle pub in Rhoscolyn as a favourite stop.

02 / March 2020 / Maggie and Darren

Maggie and Darren: a church doorway, a windy beach and a night of dancing

Maggie and Darren were married on 7 March 2020. The photograph at the top of this page shows them leaving through an arched stone doorway in a shower of confetti, Maggie carrying a large bouquet of red, pink and purple flowers and Darren in a navy suit with a red rose buttonhole, guests smiling on both sides of them. The highlight film from the day plays further down the page.

The ceremony was at a church near Silver Bay, which we have not named here. Earlier, inside, Darren signs the register at a white-clothed table while Maggie stands beside him, her bouquet resting on the table in front of them.

Then they go to the coast. Maggie and Darren stand in front of a grey vintage car with a white ribbon, a grey sea and a sandy shore behind them under an overcast sky, and then walk hand in hand along a gravel track beside grassy dunes, Maggie laughing and Darren looking at her. We have not matched this stretch of coast to the venue's own beach, so ask the venue about beach access for your own guests.

On the same path the wind lifts Maggie's veil as they stop for a kiss, the car parked a little way behind them.

Indoors, a function room is laid for the wedding meal: round tables with white chairs tied with red organza bows, tall floral centrepieces, and a top table dressed in white with trailing greenery, beneath a floral backdrop with their names on it. We have not matched the room to a named space at the venue, so ask which of its rooms you could use.

The two of them sit side by side on a deep window sill, laughing at each other with the bouquet beside Maggie. Later, in front of that backdrop, a row of men in suits and waistcoats lift Maggie flat across their arms, everyone laughing.

In the dim, blue and amber light of the evening, Maggie throws her head back laughing as she and Darren stand close, with guests seated behind them watching and filming on their phones.

Planning your photographs at Silver Bay

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. First ask the venue: The venue's website does not mention weddings, so before anything else ask whether it can host yours, which spaces you could use, how many guests it allows and what its rules are. We cannot speak for the venue and have not stated any figures.
  2. Timing: The venue's website gives no ceremony or music times, so agree your timetable with the venue first, including how long you need between the ceremony and the park. Tell us your timings once you have agreed them and we will plan the portrait walk around the light.
  3. Early March light: Maggie and Darren married in early March, and their photographs and film show a pale, overcast sky over the shore with the wind catching Maggie's veil. If you marry at another time of year, ask the venue how the park and the dunes look then.
  4. The beach: The venue says the beach path is private access for owners and that the beach has no public toilets or cafe. Ask whether your guests may use it, and plan for sea wind and a walk down the path.
  5. Getting there: The venue says the park is reached by winding lanes behind the dunes, so ask about parking, arrival times and how guests and any wedding car reach the Deck House.
  6. Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
  7. Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
  8. Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.

One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth, the Bright Sight photo and video duo

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a coastal park, dunes, a restaurant and a beach path is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.

The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
