A country house on a 400 acre estate on Teesside

Wynyard Hall is at Wynyard, Stockton-on-Tees (TS22 5NF). The venue describes an 18th century, Grade II listed country house set in a private 400 acre estate in the North East, designed for weddings and celebrations. Its own pages mention a walled garden with around 3,000 David Austin roses, a woodland walk, water features and a lake view from the terrace.

We photographed and filmed Georgia and Jake's wedding here on 6 August 2026. It is the wedding in this guide, and the photographs show a lake, a long lawn and a room with a chandelier that make the setting easy to picture.

01 / August 2026 / Georgia and Jake

Georgia and Jake: a white dinner jacket, a lake and a petal path

Georgia and Jake married on 6 August 2026. The photograph at the top of this page is the two of them embracing beside a lake, Jake's hand on Georgia's face and her long veil blowing, with green parkland behind them under a soft grey sky. Earlier in the day four bridesmaids in black satin dresses and a small flower girl in white react with their hands to their faces, with the edge of Georgia's veil at the side of the frame.

In the ceremony Jake, in a white dinner jacket and black bow tie, takes Georgia's hand for the rings while she smiles at him through her veil, with seated guests in the background. Afterwards guests line up along a stone path scattered with white petals, and the two of them kiss between the rows with a curved stone wing of the hall at the side.

Georgia and Jake stroll hand in hand across dry grass, with a stone wing of the hall and a wooden bench behind them. In the next photographs the walk reaches the water: Jake carries Georgia's long train beside a lake with lily pads while she looks back at him over her shoulder.

The lake does a lot of the work, and the white of the gown and the dinner jacket stands out against the green.

The last photograph is inside. Georgia and Jake stand in a grand room with a crystal chandelier overhead, marble columns, a curtained bay window and a board of framed family photographs at the side, her long train spread across the floor.

02 / The spaces / From the venue's own pages

The chapel, the state rooms and the terrace

The venue's wedding page names an original 19th century chapel with Italian marble and stained glass, where religious and civil ceremonies can both be held on site. Civil ceremonies are also possible in the state rooms, which it describes with gilded ceilings and Florentine fireplaces, and on the terrace in warmer months, overlooking a lake. The Statue Gallery, with its stained glass ceiling, is used for the champagne reception, and the conservatory for the wedding breakfast.

The venue says it holds one wedding a day, with exclusive use of the hall. Included guest numbers are 60 by day and 80 in the evening from Sunday to Thursday, 80 and 100 on a Friday, and 100 and 120 on a Saturday, and the largest wedding it has catered for is 300. The page does not give capacities for individual rooms, so ask for them in writing when you enquire.

03 / Staying at Wynyard Hall / From the venue's own pages

Nineteen bedrooms and hot tub cottages

The venue lists 19 bedrooms and suites in the hall, with freestanding baths and lakeside views, and says the main hall is used exclusively for weddings and events. Hall bedrooms can be booked as part of a wedding or event, with minimum room numbers. It also lists hot tub cottages in the grounds, each sleeping 6 to 12. Its pages give the number of cottages as four in one place and five in another, so confirm that with the venue.

Planning your photographs at Wynyard Hall

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:

  1. Where the ceremony is: the chapel, a state room or the terrace. Tell us your plan and the times so we can arrange the morning around it.
  2. Getting ready: ask which hall bedrooms come with your booking and from what time on the morning, as the venue sets minimum room numbers.
  3. Group photographs: we do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask someone who knows everyone to round people up.
  4. Portraits: we usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The grounds beside the hall, the lake and the grand rooms inside give you very different backdrops.
  5. Rain: agree an indoor option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. The state rooms, the Statue Gallery and the conservatory are the inside spaces the venue lists.
