A Georgian country house in Shropshire
Davenport House is a Grade I listed Georgian country house in Shropshire, at Worfield near Bridgnorth, restored in 2017 and run by Joseph and Elizabeth Adams. The venue says your wedding day is exclusively yours, with the house and gardens hired for a day or for a night with breakfast the next morning.
We have worked on two weddings here: Jodi and Mike on 1 April 2022, on film, and Anna and Emilyn on 30 July 2026, whose day is told in the photographs on this page, opened by the two of them on the gravel in front of the house. Our Shropshire guide shows Davenport beside other Shropshire venues; here we stay with the house itself. What we say about the rooms and the grounds comes from the venue's own website, and what we say about the photographs comes from looking at them.

The Grand Hall, the Saloon and the Hidden Pavilion
The venue's wedding page describes the Grand Hall as sitting at the very heart of the house and the Saloon as a room with majestic panelled walls and views over the grounds. Outdoors, the Hidden Pavilion is tucked away off the main lawn, and stone steps lead down to the terrace, the lawns and a lily pond. It lists a civil ceremony capacity of 150, indoor dining for 150 and an evening reception for 200, and says outdoor weddings are available.
Costs and exact room arrangements depend on the day and the season, so ask the venue for current figures in writing. In Anna and Emilyn's photographs the house does a great deal of the work: a red-brick Georgian front with a columned entrance, a four-poster bedroom with floral wallpaper, and a room with tall windows, a chandelier and pier mirrors.
02 / July 2026 / Anna and Emilyn
Anna and Emilyn: a four-poster morning, ribbon wands and a neon dancefloor
Anna and Emilyn married at Davenport House on 30 July 2026. The photograph at the top of this page is from their portraits: two brides in white, one in a fitted halter-neck gown and one in a white jumpsuit with puffed sleeves, walking arm in arm across the gravel with the house behind them.
The morning begins in a high-ceilinged bedroom, where a dress with a long lace train hangs from a four-poster bed and a bride sits at a dressing table by the window. At the ceremony the two of them kiss at the front of a crowded room full of light, a chandelier overhead and a bouquet of bright flowers in one bride's hand, the guests smiling and applauding.

Into the wedding breakfast they come through a doorway with their arms raised while guests wave white ribbons beside a long table set with candles and flowers, and later one of them dances with her arms in the air among friends, a neon sign glowing behind.

03 / Staying at Davenport House / From the venue's own description
Rooms, a Honeymoon Suite and four cottages
The venue says up to 40 guests can be accommodated on its grounds on your wedding night, in en-suite bedrooms in the house, and that there is a Honeymoon Suite with lawn and garden views for your first night as a married couple. It also has four self-catering cottages in the grounds, and a wedding preparation cottage for the night before. It does not give a bedroom count, so ask which rooms come with your booking.
For photographs, getting ready in the house means the dress, the flowers and the first look at each other are a short walk from the ceremony. Tell us your rooms and timings and we will plan the morning around them.
A real wedding on film
Davenport House: Jodi and Mike’s April 2022 wedding on film
Jodi and Mike’s highlight film retells their April 2022 wedding at Davenport House, from the first moments of the day to the evening. This page has no photographs of their day, so the film is where you can see and hear how a wedding here looks, then ask the venue which of its spaces suit your numbers.

A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Ceremony space: Indoors in one of the house's rooms or outdoors, depending on numbers and the weather. Tell us your plan so we can arrange the morning around it.
- Getting ready: Ask about the preparation cottage and the Honeymoon Suite, and when you can use them. A short walk between your room and the ceremony keeps the morning calm.
- Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day, and we settle it together on the day.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Choose somewhere with room and a sheltered backup, and ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Portraits: We usually take a portrait walk of about 15 minutes, with photo and video together. The gravel in front of the house, the terrace and the lawns give you very different backdrops.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a Georgian house with a Grand Hall, a Saloon and a lily pond is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
