A Victorian villa in Didsbury Village
Didsbury House Hotel is on Didsbury Park in Didsbury Village, Manchester (M20 5LJ). The venue describes it as a luxury Victorian villa in the leafy village of Didsbury, and says most weddings are held with exclusive use of the whole property.
We filmed Olivia and Matt's wedding here on 17 April 2026. This page follows their day through stills from their highlight film, so the pictures below are film frames rather than photographs. Our Manchester guide shows Didsbury House beside venues across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire, and here we stay with the venue itself. What we say about the house comes from its own website, and what we say about the images comes from looking at them.
For current venue details, explore Didsbury House Hotel. Olivia and Matt's wedding was in April, so ask the venue how the lawn and the terrace look at other times of year.
01 / The spaces / From the venue's own description
A Blue Lounge for ceremonies, a walled terrace and 27 bedrooms
The venue says the Blue Lounge and the Board Room are separate rooms that can be joined by double doors, and that the Blue Lounge is licensed for wedding ceremonies. Opening up the Board Room as well, it says, allows ceremonies of up to 80. The Blue Lounge has a period cornice, a large bay window and concealed window shutters.
For a seated wedding breakfast the venue says it can seat 50 guests in the Blue Lounge and Boardroom, and up to 80 with the Gold Lounge as well. More informal receptions, such as a barbecue or hot buffet, can take up to 100, and the standing capacity including evening guests is 120.
Outside there is a Victorian walled terrace beside the bar, with large retractable parasols and overhead heating. The Lounge at the front overlooks the lawn, though the venue says that room is for residents only.
02 / April 2026 / Olivia and Matt
Olivia and Matt: an ivory jacket, hanging flowers and a lawn in spring green
Olivia and Matt married at Didsbury House on 17 April 2026. The image at the top of this page is from their portraits: the two of them walk hand in hand across the lawn, Olivia laughing and looking back at Matt, who is in an ivory dinner jacket and black bow tie, with dense green shrubs behind them. These images are stills from their highlight film.
The film opens on the front of the house, a white Victorian villa with pointed gables, decorated bargeboards and white flowers over the arched front door.

In the morning Matt is by a tall window with dark green curtains, looking down as he settles his ivory jacket over a dark bow tie.

The ceremony takes place in a room with a large bay window, under a loose canopy of white roses and eucalyptus hung above the couple. Olivia and Matt face each other and hold hands, smiling, with guests seated on either side. A few moments later they kiss, and someone standing beside them claps.

Outside afterwards, Olivia puts an arm around Matt's neck and they stand close, smiling, against the white wall of the house with its decorative plasterwork, a clipped shrub beside them.

03 / Staying at Didsbury House / From the venue's own description
27 individually designed bedrooms and breakfast the next morning
The venue has 27 individually designed bedrooms, from snug rooms to loft suites. The Opus Loft Suite is on the second floor and, the venue says, was the servants' quarters of the original villa. Most weddings include a cooked breakfast the following morning, which the venue serves in a breakfast room on the lower ground floor.
For photographs, ask which rooms you can use for getting ready and when they are available, so we can plan the morning around where each of you is.

Planning your wedding film and photographs at Didsbury House Hotel
A few things worth asking the venue, and how we would plan around the answers:
- Timing: The venue recommends booking a registrar between 2pm and 4.30pm, and says bedroom check-in is guaranteed at 3pm. It also advises booking your ceremony directly with Manchester Registry Office before you confirm your date. Tell us your timings once you have agreed them and we will plan the portrait walk around the light.
- Season and light: Olivia and Matt married in mid-April, and the portrait frames above show fresh green leaves and soft daylight on the lawn. We check sunset and light times for your date in advance and agree the plan with you before the day.
- Rain: Agree an indoor or sheltered option with the venue when you confirm the order of the day. The venue's walled terrace has retractable parasols and overhead heating, and the ceremony rooms are indoors. On the day we settle it together with you and the venue.
- Group photographs: We do as many as you like and typically recommend around 15, which usually take about 20 minutes. Ask the venue where it suggests for groups, whether on the lawn or the terrace; ask a groomsman or bridesmaid who knows everyone to round people up.
- Getting ready: If you and your partner are in different places, we move between you together, splitting our time as a team. Groom preparation typically takes about 15 minutes.
One team for the photographs and the film

Cam and Beth have photographed and filmed over 400 weddings together, so a Victorian villa with a lounge for ceremonies, a walled terrace and a lawn is familiar territory. You get one conversation about the timetable, one set of questions for the venue and one plan for the portrait walk.
The photo and video team package carries a £120 deposit and a £400 saving over booking photography and videography separately. We are based near Cardiff, and travel across England and Wales is included in standard full-day packages. When the drive is over two hours we always stay in a hotel the night before and cover it.
